EXIF META DATA - EDITING TOOLS?

Howdy, Members:

Google is now indexing the Exif meta data within images itself ((EXchangeable Image Format).

Today I received an email from Paul Clifford about Brad Gosse's new software: Exif Utility for $197... their landing page titles read as follows:
Cutting Edge Software Injects Searchable Data Into Your Images

Optimize Your Image Meta Data With Keyword Research and Thesaurus Tools Beating Your Competitors To The Top Of Search Results

Quickly and Easily Embed Searchable Text Into Your Images For Better Search Results

While searching, I found:

ExifTool by Phil Harvey - lastest update: Jan. 7, 2015.

Yes - Windows Explorer - right mouse click on properties, alternatively you can use also Irfan View or any other free image editor of your choice.

      Appreciate, TJ.

Will take a look at WIN Explorer and Irfan (have both).
      • Question: Each can handle ALL Exif attributes, edit, and insert text?

      Thx.

EXIF data is not used as a ranking factor. Matt Cutts said it would be helpful to have it in case people were wanting to revise image searches for camera types, dates, etc. it would make sense.

There are far more important things to worry about than EXIF data.

Google has the ability to tell what a picture is without any help from a file name, alt tag, exif data, etc.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it! Unless you're stealing images and you don't want them to find out so you remove the exif data hoping they don't pick it up in a reverse image search.

      Nathan & Timo:

      Appreciate.

I think there is potentially more to this... and appreciate your good advice.

The main difference with the tool I created is that it uses thesaurus and google suggest to make keywords easier.

You can embed Exif data for free in lots of different apps

Exif data isn't new. Google says they read it and my experience with using it has been good for both online and offline search. My hard drive is filled with exif optimized assets making things much easier to search for internally.

      Howdy, Brad:

Appreciate your additional info regarding your new IM tool:
      Exif Utility

In my case, one of my primary tasks is: Keyword research... for which I have acquired a number of excellent IM Tools.

I believe the critical factor for me is to:
      • Secure the ability to access ALL Exif attributes and embed optimized searchable content into images in order to achieve the competitive advantage of enhanced search results.

      Thank you,

      ~ Alan

You can do it in Photoshop. But you manually have to put everything in and it doesn't add any suggestions or anything like that.

Yeah my tool gives you the keyword research, thesaurus, batch processing and search friendly fields but not all 100+ EXIF data fields.

One of the best apps I've used for doing this manually without keyword results is Adobe Bridge if you have it

    Best of luck!

ExifUtility is a desktop app that helps you pull thesaurus and google auto complete into your keywords. It embeds the meta data into your images.

ExifTool is 100% command line based app that embeds your exif data without any suggested keywords.

We actually include exiftool in ExifUtility because it's very powerful and free to distribute. I have been donating to Phils project along the way

ExifUtility is a GUI with extras built on Exif Tool

    Hope that makes sense
