Don't Give Up On Your Old Articles
I have a Google Alert on my name and today I saw an article posted of mine,
supposedly, that I didn't recognize.
I finally did a search for it to see where the person got it from and son of
a gun, it was written and submitted on April 15, 2007.
Folks, that's over 2 years ago.
I don't even remember writing it but there it was under my EZA account
and this person just picked it up today and published it on their site.
I won't give the link because I don't want there to be any hint of self
promotion here (also why I removed my signature)
But there is a very important point that I am stressing here that needs
to be heard by skeptical article marketers.
A lot of people think that when you write an article and submit it to a
place like EZA, after the initial rush of traffic, that article is dead.
It gets no more traffic and nobody bothers to republish it to their site,
thus turning the article into dead wood.
This is proof that this just isn't so.
Now just imagine over the course of several years and writing hundreds
of articles what this could mean, especially in niches that aren't all that
competitive.
Point is, articles are not a one shot deal. Sure, some lapse into the void
of the Internet, but many do not.
Yes, the better the article, the better your chance of having it be
republished on other sites. And if your resource box has a strong call
to action, that's more potential prospects.
I'm keeping an eye on the URL in my stats to see how many people come
to my site from that article.
And it's just ONE article.
Now, here's something else.
That person republished your article?
Go check out his site and see what kind of traffic it's getting. If it appears
to be a high ranked site, contact the owner and ask him if he'd like you
to be a guest author for his site.
Why not?
If he liked your ONE article, isn't there a chance he'd like more, especially
if it's original content not seen anywhere else?
Okay, got it? Don't give up on old articles.
They can be worth a lot more than you think.
