college degree and are working IM full-time from home? Many time, I tell people that I want to get into IM and my peers and family have told me that I'm living in a fantasy world. They think 9-5 job is the legitimate way of making income.

Many of us have been there and done that.

Friends and family members can sometimes be skeptical at first, but it's just human nature. People don't generally believe what they can't see. Don't hold that against them.

I think this is the perfect opportunity for you to go out there, find a method to make money on the Internet, and use their doubt as fuel to make it happen!

Then, after you're successful, sit back, relax, enjoy the moment for just a moment, and get back to working on your list or sites or whatever you have become successful with! There's no time to waste!

Its all about mindset. People are slaves of their habits Habits are formed by doing things in a same way for a considerable period of time. Generally people hav seen and accustomed to 9to5 way of earnin money. They hav not taken pain to find somethin else. IM is a new concept for them. Hence they'r skeptical. Do your research, show ur loved ones the potential of IM, how many people are already living the life of their dreams. Talk to them daily about IM. But do not try to force or pursuade them, it will take them to their defences. Keep on doing what u love, when you'l b around them doing the things new to them their curiosity will take over their already formed mindset and they'l feel interested in what you do. Its all human nature out of control of general people who do not work on gettin control of their mind. Once what u do repeatedly gets in their mind they'l start supportin u and may b join u eventually. Just do not give up ever on ur dreams. wish u luck

The fact of the matter is that 95-97 percent of people failed at Internet Marketing. So there are lots of sacrifices to make, things to learn, failures to go through, money to spend etc if someone wishes to be in that 5 percent of people telling their success stories. How fast you get there also depends on a lot of factors. Most people prefer to do IM on a part time basis while holding on their 9-5 job if they are restrained by factors they have no control of. Then invest in whatever money from their income to support whatever investments their online business requires. Then quit their day job only when they know they can make a regular income from their online business. There is no shortcut to success in IM.

Experienced the same. Just keep quiet about it to stop negative reactions from others that can affect you/your progress in IM. You can start by working on IM part time, on the side, while you keep a normal job until it can generate you full time income. That's when you'll probably get accepted in their eyes.

I think everyone here has been in this situation at some point. Even after you start making great money online, people will still think you're living in a fantasy world.

People have a hard time accepting the idea of making money online and from home. That's probably because they've heard horror stories of people being scammed or failing (which happens a lot, unfortunately). And I think most of them believe that it sounds too easy and too good to be true. We all know that this is definitely not easy, but it can be very lucrative.

The key here is to keep working hard and keep going - no matter what other people think. Friends and family will come around eventually and not only accept what you're doing, but be proud of you too.

    Best of luck to you!

I don't work full time IM, because I wouldn't enjoy it. So I decided to cut my "9-5" in half and the rest I dedicate to internet marketing. That way I don't get bored too quickly.

I am working from home full time as an Internet Marketer and only have a high school education and the only post education that I have was Truck Driver Training School.

But 'traditional' education doesn't really matter in the IM industry from the business perspective.

It's not stopping me from making 'consistent' income.

Don't share your dreams and plans with anyone that isn't qualified to understand or comment on your ventures. My family and friends don't know what I do and I don't care to tell them. They won't understand and I don't expect them to.

My wife believes in me and what I'm doing (because I have to) and that's all that matters to me.

When ever I spend time with family and friends, I talk about stuff that we can all relate to.

Their civilians and don't understand IM.

Yeah, My dads side of the family believe i am performing dark arts when I tell them about earning online. They uneducated in IT, and find it too far fetched to believe that I don't have to work a shit job to get by. Probably part jealousy as well, because who doesn't want to earn their living from home?

I am also working in IM part-time and part-time I am trying to develop a project related to my degree. I could not find a relevant full-time job right after graduation, so i started doing some IM. I like it this way.
I did not involve my family to much in this decision, because i knew it would be hard for them to understand what i am doing.
I would suggest to take a small project and try yourself out without telling anyone. Good luck!

Yes ... guilty. (And still doing another degree, very slowly and very part-time, if I ever finish it .) I must say I wouldn't be doing nearly so well with my IM business if I hadn't done the college degree. The academic discipline and analytical skills acquired from it really have been enormously useful.

That's understandable: it is, for most people, isn't it?

Most people are right about having a job (on the side) & being able to eat & pay your bills are good. I would recommend that you start out with getting a website, autoresponder, & getting some good products to sell in order to make money. It is 100% percent possible to make money online but in order to do this, you'll have to be willing to spend alot of time adding content, advertising, & building up a list of subscribers to send your offers.2. The other thing, is that after doing all of these it may take a few years until you are able to make as much as you would working full time but the nice part is that it should last forever online (as long as you pay fees for website & autoresponder) & could make you money for a long time to come

For me, maybe I'm an outlier, but I want to have a job with an actual company outside of making money online, I'm currently going to college, and looking forward to my career.

At the same time, I want to build a successful income online for two main reasons.

    1) To prove to myself and others that I am able to create this income online, that I have the skills and talent to do it.

    2) To not necessarily be tied down to a job in all cases. If I got fired, I wouldn't want to have to worry all the time about where the next meal will come from, or having to move across the country just to get another job. I want the option of the freedom to be there.

Why not pursuing your degree AND do your IM thing at the same time.

Sure it puts additional workload and if you are successful no one gives a damn on your degree.

But during the DotCom crash way back then I was happy to have a degree because I had to close down my company and due to my situation at the current time had to get a job quick.

I got one because of my degree and many others who applied for the job (and had the same skill set as me) were turned down because a degree was a must. YMMV

95% fail to make money online. Obviously there is a big risk that you will be one of them (I hope not). My advise is don't go all in and quit your job before you start getting results.

It's not a fantasy world, but even super affiliate didn't make lots of money in their first year.
