You should fit in perfectly with email marketing by launching your website in a profitable niche, building a list of email subscribers, initially investing money to get visitors to opt in to your squeeze page, and selling them your products or affiliate products.

It can be quite lucrative fairly quickly if you play your cards right and if you pick a profitable niche.

It's also easy and does not take too much of your time after you launch your site and get set up. Expect to do some grunt work for the first month or two, then it should be smooth sailing.

There's plenty of free information on the Warrior Forum to get you going.

Head over to the Offline Section and look for someone over there. I know several people over there are sales people... Pay attention to posts by Dan McCoy, ewenmack , Lessard, Claude Whitacre.. iamnamelss and a few others They know their stuff.

Best of luck. Just make sure that you don't jumble around from one thing to the next. Try to stick to something and really stay at it until you make money. This forum is truly a goldmine if you treat it as such. There are countless people who use this site to make money from the WSO forum, and others who use all the info on here in their onlikne businesses.

Definitely consider doing some offline marketing and learn about making money from that.

Stick to affiliate marketing and learn to build multiple websites so that you can promote affiliate products from multiple niches.

I'm happy you aren't exactly in this for an overnight quick fix, but here for a real reason of making serious cash in an honest manner and within a few months. Your goals of quitting your job is very possible within this year.

Hi Phil,

Good on you for planning your financial freedom!

The support in this forum is excellent to say the least. It sounds like you are good at the face to face stuff if you like to "help people to buy". So offline marketing and maybe even webinars could be up your ally.

You will find lots of people here doing the same thing and can also find facebook groups if you need to find more people.

I know you don't want to blog... but if you do end up with a website that relies on search engine traffic then blogging can be useful (even if only once a month) in terms of ranking and promotion however if you really hate it then no use doing it.

My tip: Set goals for yourself and plan. Every weekend set little tasks that you need to achieve for the coming week that will help you achieve your ultimate goal and you could be working for yourself in 1 year!

Hi Phil, I'm fairly new here myself but I'm in it for the long-term, building a real business.

I started out with affiliate marketing, all the wrong way round. Now I'm concentrating on marketing my own products and building an email marketing list.

Well done for not falling into the trap of trying to get rich overnight. A year plan is your best strategy.

Maybe tell us a bit more about what your plans are, what ideas you have? Do you have a market in mind?

Build your list man. Set up a really slick sales funnel then start driving traffic there... solo ads are great if you can afford them! There are tons of awesome list building WSOs so you might want to check those out to get the idea. That's really the best thing you can possibly do to earn some cash online.

Phil,you're already on the right road simply by using this forum.I've gotten a lot of help here and I enjoy paying it forward.Most folks that I've met here are much the same.
When I was brand new everybody kept repeating "build a list".I thought back then that I understood but looking back I guess I didn't.
Most people will tell you that the money is in the list,still very true,but the real money is in the followup. Build a list,stay connected,be relevant.

A blog is just one way of promoting affiliate products. There are many ways to do it, as you said a website to promote affiliate products could definitely work. To take that one step further your email list could be your greatest asset. You could use your website to capture leads and promote affiliate products right from your email list. There is a bunch of great information here on the forum and I am sure you could find tons of great information searching for affiliate marketing.

I've done everything from affiliate marketing to blogging to electronic product creation to physical product creation and finally landed on the above. I've found it much more profitable, predictable, controllable and perhaps most importantly, enjoyable.

Hey Phil,
You can have the flexibility of having a WordPress Blog and just have a Static Page which would make it a Website or at least look like one.

Then if you did want to add material in future you have that option.

any successful website has got a blog to go with it.. It helps so much with seo, strengthening your keywords, and adding extra long tails to your site.. also keeps it looking fresh and updated (from google's perspective)

Everything I do is private/white label now. Own and grow your own brand name but essentially your products are created, stored, and shipped by the manufacturer after they slap your label on it.

IMO, why dropship products that hundreds or thousands of other people dropship or sell when you can build your own brand? Especially when you're competing against places like Amazon and eBay and Wal-Mart.

When I used to dropship other products,a WorldWide Brands was a great source of dropshippers.

Phil,

IMO, the type of business, the model, should determine what type of web site best fits what you're doing.

So a portal site is appropriate for one type of business, a directory site is another, a blog is another, an e-commerce site is another, an affiliate site is another etc.

Don't determine the structure of your site until you know what you're going to be selling and how you're going to do it . . . that's the consideration that should drive your decision about the type of site that will best accomplish the task at hand. You want the site to cover all your tasks so that you don't have to "bolt on" other add-ons.

First you discover and position your business in a niche, then you decide on a business model (how you're going to sell), then you can begin considering what types of sites will best accommodate your model.

Hope this helps to clarify the process.

Honestly, it sounds like you don't see affiliate marketing as a viable source of income.

I'm not sure why, there are plenty of people making far more than just a full time living out of it.

A blog was never a monetization method - just a tool to boost your traffic and get people onto your email list, and to strengthen your relationship with people already on your email list. I have no doubt that having my blog has netted me a ton of more sales just because it's extra (free) consumable content that has helped show what I have to offer.

You can still offer your own products/services through your blog. WordPress is extremly flexible.

Anyway, I agree completely with Steve. Choose the business before the platform.

Sounds like you have some misconceptions about a few things.

1) A blog is by definition a website, Website = very general term, blog = a specific type of website.

2) You can sell people stuff without hard selling them, and also by helping them. My blog / site is full of people (hundreds of them) thanking me for all I do for them.

3) You can make really good money with affiliate marketing while your helping people (5 figures per month)

A blog is just a platform to create a website. There are several themes available to make websites, sales pages, memberships, and squeeze pages. I would recommend you use the wordpress platform with a good theme like OP2.0.

My only tip to success is to Take Action. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Phil, you don't need a blog if you really don't want one.

But you will need some kind of 'landing' page or website.

You can get a 'one' page website up and running for under $11 per month. That's what I pay for mine. No it's not a one page site, it's a blog with a lot of content. But most of my traffic goes into my home page and into my sales funnel via my 'lead capture page'.

It's not so much a blog that makes you money by delivering 'value' to people, you can give value before people go to your blog or after (in the form of email marketing).

So if you don't want to spend a lot of time blogging, just get a one page site [landing page] & FOCUS on Driving 'Targeted' Traffic into that thing.

People rarely share dropshippers because that causes instant competition

But they are easy to find, figure out what you want to sell, then look at who makes it, then.contact them

Getting your first website/blog up and running is easier than you think, in fact there are some membership sites that give you all the training you need and your own niche blogs for a low monthly fee.

Phil, you most certainly don't need to run a blog to make a living online.

That being said, you seem to be starting this with quite a few faulty assumptions.

A blog is not something you have to write on constantly to survive, cranking out new articles on a daily basis. In fact, you're much better off producing something high-quality perhaps once a week.

Second, there are plenty of ways to make money blogging besides through affliate marketing (not that affiliate marketing is necessarily the cutthroat, hunger-driven angle you seem to believe it is). Blogging is a marketing strategy - and a very good one if done correctly - not an affiliate marketing strategy.

Again, you don't have to engage in this type of activity, but at least know what you're rejecting first because what you've described certainly doesn't apply to all blog campaigns.

Hey if you do decide you want to get into dropshipping a great way to find dropshippers with out paying anything is to search google for any industry you want to sell in wih the term drop ship ie fans dropshipper... fans wholesale dropshipper

You can make as much money with a blog than a website but it all depends on what vibes with you. I love creating, so just putting a website out there would be boring, and would make me unhappy.

Creating blog posts makes me happy, and when I'm happy, I make the biggest difference for others, and of course, for me

I'm not sure why you would think a blog would only generate a bit of extra money to go out to dinner.

I use to sell physical products, and make alright money doing it, $15-$20,000 per month, but it was a *LOT* of work and stress, you can't just go on vacation for 3 months and still operate the business efficiently.

Affiliate marketing I make significantly more than that, for a lot less stress, if someone doesn't like a product I'm not involved in the customer service/RMA process.
Plus when you run a network of blogs you can work from anywhere.
