Getting Listed on DMOZ

Ok.. so i am sure that most of you already know that getting listed on reputable directories like DMOZ helps a lot as far as Page rank is concerned.

However, i have tried multliple times to get listed and I am seeing no results and no responses. Some of the categories in DMOZ are so outdated. They have sites that are no longer relevant to the category. Meanwhile, I am only trying to list a relevant site and it seems like my submission for getting listed goes nowhere.

Any hints/suggestions on how to get listed on DMOZ?

    Hi Healthforums,

I know how you feel about dmoz. I have been an editor there for a couple years, and I see this sort of thing all of the time. I have had problems getting sites listed as well and I am a fellow editor. Many editors do their best to keep up with things, but many of the categories our filled with pending sites and no one to edit them. I use to recommend contacting the editor of your category and ask if they could further explain why your site wont get listed, but this is highly discouraged by the community. We are told not to reply to people other than the standard responses.

Most of the time your site wont get listed for a couple reasons, either your site was not submitted according to dmoz guidelines, it was submitted to the wrong category, or you have listed in a category with a editor that is not active.

Keep trying and if you still cant get listed, you might be able to become an editor and contribute to the community in your niche. Just be honest about listing your sites and make sure that you are just not helping yourself, and they wont mind if you list your sites. They are constantly abused by webmasters and internet marketers though, so I wouldnt advertise that you have many personal interests in your niche.

    good luck
