Google Keyword Tool Sucks!!

Hi Everyone

Been researching a niche for a client website I am building. Anyway I uncovered what appeared to be a really niche term ... low competition high traffic ... am sure you know the gig.

Anyway before going off in a frenzy and doing loads of optimisation activity I ran a test using Google Adsense ... guess what not one single impression or click after 10 days.

Moral of the story is that you cannot rely on Google Keywords tool only and definitely need to undertake additional tests to verify and findings.

Would really appreciate any other methods of verification apart from Adwords that people can use out there.

I created my own formula that I apply to the KW Tool exact match local search monthly volume that works pretty darned well, and gets really close to a real figure.

Search these forums for the term "GTEF". I've posted it a number of times.

yes, i know of a free tool you can use that is geared for webmasters building client sites. you can pm me, but i don't know if I even have enough posts to receive your pm. this is crazy. there's a lot of great info at better networkers

Well maybe your results have told you something.

Good niche high traffic little competition usually means a non selling market. Maybe you should do some more research to see if this is a market with cash. Results usually tell you something you don't want to know.

Nice thought Quentin but the tool suggested there was a huge amount of searches for the term. Therefore my add would at least get some impressions and it has had none.

Did you check the keywords for buyer intent? If the keywords you are using are primarily informational intent, then you won't likely get many Adsense clicks. Google's business is driven by people/companies using Adwords so I doubt that Google is going to put out a poor research tool.
