I always use a PDF and wouldn't dream of ever using video, myself. This post may help you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7647187

You really do need your "free report/guide" to serve all the purposes mentioned there, otherwise it's a huge wasted opportunity which will translate very directly into lost future income.

(The people who don't do that are the ones you see here trying to tell everyone else that it's "normal" for most of your subscribers not to be willing to open an email from you!! http://www.warriorforum.com/email-ma...ml#post8661178 ).

PDF is probably the way to go, but whatever you choose, make it something that's easily digestible.

Keep in mind people generally don't want to get free information in the form of a 35 page PDF or a 45 minute video. When a subscriber gets something for free, they want something that quickly solves their problem in the least amount of time. That's far more valuable than a PDF or video that they are never going to look through entirely.

Try offering the ONE unique answer to your audience's problem... that you just told them that they had.

    Dare to be different.

I would imagine that videos would convert better considering the user doesn't have to go through downloading and then opening up their e-reader to view it. Videos are easier to mess up though! Its your call, maybe do some split testing?

I assume people/customer perceive videos more valuable than pdf ebook. If I were you, I would choose 90 second video in opt in page and 3-5 minutes video as a free gift.

Perhaps it used to be back when video was unique in marketing that peopel perceived it as more valuable. Now, when anyone can shoot a video on their phone and upload it to YouTube, it seems to have lost some of its sparkle as an optin premium.

When you have a document that you took time to create and think through and really provide your optin subscribers with value and your unique viewpoint - even when you use PLR, I think you have a more valuable premium.

I do agree with you .There was a time where video has more percived value but now short report looks more comfortable. But this is just my assumption but after reading people suggestion , i think it is good to give small report.

I don't think there was ever such a time.

I think there was a time when video was newer and many marketers were very keen on using it because they liked it themselves and projected that sentiment onto their subscribers, as people so often do; but even then I think the people who split-tested it generally found that their subscribers/customers didn't share that perception. In my opinion, it's one of the countless techniques of internet marketing which are widely used without proper testing, simply according to the principle of "this must be working, otherwise so many people wouldn't be doing it". In other words, it doesn't necessarily work at all, and maybe never did, but so many people imagine that it did/does that its widespread usage simply becomes self-perpetuating. That's how a lot of this kind of business activity works, and one reason why it's relatively easy to outperform your competitors, if you actually test things for yourself.

This is an instructive little thread, from a year ago: http://www.warriorforum.com/off-topi...o-content.html

I think [FREE PDF Download] is the best option. Today people have so many different 'distractions' going on. Yes before when not too many people were brave enough to shoot videos, they seemed new and even 'exotic'. You could easily stand out before. But now everyone and their grandma's are using video.

People are in a hurry and many love to 'scan' text instead of reading.

This doesn't mean that they won't watch videos of you in 'follow up' emails. They will watch them if they believe that they'll gain value from them.

A unique short report in PDF format has worked great for me. Give them a value packed report and leave them wanting more.

Never stop split testing. Always try to beat the winner.

Offcourse ,split testing is the ultimate option for marketers but it is always best to get ideas from other internet marketers.

It's usually better to get ideas from them and then do the opposite, I think. That makes sense, doesn't it, if the failure-rate is about 95% as everyone says? No reason at all to imagine that the "consensus of opinion" is worth listening to at all, perhaps?

I prefer PDF. Although I have NOT tested it myself , I have noticed that others have gotten higher Optin Rates with Videos.

  • Why not a pdf and a video so the subscriber has an option.
