Affiliate Offers Diminish List Value Over Time?

Howdy Y'all...

So I was doing some reading on an IM marketer's blog. He seems to be doing very well according to the income reports posted on this blog (no it's not Pat Flynn but good guess).

Anyway -- he says that sending affiliate offers via email to one's list diminishes the value of that list over time. He has the offer on his blog instead and gets this email readers over to his blog to read about the offer(s).

The email he says is solely for content and engagement..sort of like social media.

I believe this is what Pat Flynn advocates as well. Anyway..my question is...what are your views on affiliate offers being be sent via email?

I think some of the people in the list might feel that they are being marketed and feel offended. But some of them might be interested in it. Putting a small link with a few sentences about the affiliate offer with the regular content that you send to the list might be ok in my opinion.
Would love to know what other warriors think.

It's whatever works best for you. Some people love that kind of marketing, some, like me, build the relationship via email marketing and promote affiliate links that way.

Never follow what someone else does - test yourself and blaze the path that works best for you.

    Hope that helps!

  • I think if the emails are coming every day, or worse more then once a day, then yea it is bad. Also if it is the only content you push out. But if you are promoting something you really believe in, then it should be totally fine.

My views are sending affiliate offers via email ROCKS! However, everything in moderation is best.

If all you're doing is send affiliate offers to people without providing them with any real value... then yes it will diminish the value of your list because all you're trying to do is get a buck out of people.. but if you go over and beyond by providing extra value and knowledge to your list and "recommend" products with your affiliate link then you're list will actually love you
