Hi All,

OK, I went off to create a new Twitter account and tried to upload my photo. But it's telling me it's too big. I sized it down significantly in Fireworks, but it's telling me it's still too big!

I don't know what to do. Can someone tell me what to do and how I can upload my photo in Twitter? If I continue to have problems, would you possibly do it for me and upload it if I forward it to you? I don't have time for this.

Thanks,
Michelle

Resize your pic to 48pixels X 48pixels (that's twitter's avatar display size), save it in jpg, gif or png format, then upload it.

You will probably find that if you had done it the correct size maybe twitter wasnt working properly i had problems with my background when i first uploaded it yet when i waited until the following day it worked fine.

    hope you get it sorted.

I had the same problem today. I have a photo that is 2.3MB, which I opened with Microsoft Paint, cropped a bit of it off and saved the bit I wanted as a jpg. I only cropped a little off, but the new saved image was only 499KB and Twitter uploaded it fine. Hey, it worked for me :-)

OH you need to resize it using Paint which is built-in in your OS.

I'm completely new to Twitter so I have no idea what's "normal" there and what's not.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll try again later.

Sometimes, when you upload an image, it says nothing, and gives no confirmation, then you press upload again (and the file field is now blank) and it gives you that "picture too big" error. Upload the picture once, then check the profile to see if it's up. One of the smaller UI issues.

Thanks for your help! Twitter kept telling me my photo was too big, even after I reduced it to fit on the head of a pin. Now, it seems to have been added to my profile there although I never got an "Upload successful!" message. Weird!

Now I can go in and use some of the cool plugins to synch my Twitter with my Facebook with my blog. (That makes sense, doesn't it? )
