New Site/Store - What next?

I apologize if this has been covered. I am trying to read as much as I can on this forum to catch up.

I fell into a form on dropshipping. It isn't really drop shipping as the distributor is local to me and I pick-up and ship all items myself.

I did Ebay for awhile, but their fees and probation (money held until item delivered) was cutting into my money. I am actually a sale or two away where I get my money immediately, but their high fees still sting.

I am a developer and decided to create my own site. I know very little about SEO.

This what I have done so far:
  • Created website
  • Created Facebook Page
  • Created Twitter Page
  • Created Intagram
  • Created Tumblr
  • Added webmaster/Google Anayltics

These are my two questions:
What is the next step to increase page views? (Feel free to flame on the basic question)

I have added Blog posts to the main page. Is it better to simply lists the links to the article or should I have the full or partial text of the article displayed?

The website is www spartangamecompany com

Thanks for the assistance.

Spend some money on advertising. You won't need a massive budget, but because you have blog you should start producing content asap, when you post new articles tweet, share, or post the news on major social networks so you can gain a following. You could include banners advertising on other related blogs In your budget as well as contacting authority gaming sites and asking them if you can advertise or guest blog on their site.

Have you looked at Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA)?

If you have a wholesale source and your products sell, you can eliminate all the packing, shipping, returns, etc. by letting Amazon handle all the sales.

Amazon will ship your products free, which is a big plus.

There are many threads on this forum that will provide insight on SEO, but a few questions to consider to get you started:

    1. Have you created an XML sitemap (makes it easier for search engines to crawl your site)
    2. Have you submitted your site to all the major search engines?
    3. All pictures should have what is labeled as 'alternative text', which in effect is a description of the image that the search engines can interpret/read. Same thing goes for vides.
    4. Do you have any form of analytics like Google Analytics installed on your site to track your site's performance?

As to how much text you should include on the blog article teasers, I've seen sites that successfully have displayed only headlines, and other sites that include a short teaser text from the article, which could encourage people to read more. I think it comes down to how compelling you can make your headlines. I think it also depends on amount and frequency of your posts, and how posts are displayed on the site. In your case, where you have posts only appearing in the left menu, headlines might be sufficient. When it comes down to it, the best way to find out is by testing and measuring if one method gets you more readers than the other.

      Thanks everyone for the tips.

I will incorporate them and any future posts will be made in

eCommerce Sites, Wholesaling & Drop Shipping

I did some checking on the adwords/ads with Google and the first page cost was around $4.75 per click. A little more than I am willing to spend right now without sales as one click is almost half of what I make per sale.

Sorry salegurus, but continuing the thread just a bit longer.

        Regarding Amazon:

EBay and Amazon are setup where they hold your payment for a set period of time before releasing it.

With my site, I carry very little to no inventory. Once an item is purchased, it is deposited into my Paypal account. I then go directly to the distributor to purchase the item and ship. I can follow this model with zero of my own money. I tried buying a few items in the past for inventory, but didn't like the cost of having inventory.

Once I get some sales and have generated some capital, I would look heavily into switching to Amazon market where I supply inventory to them.

You ask "What is the next step to increase page views?" - Well I strongly agree with the comment above that you should consider using Amazon's FBA along with the site you have already built. Amazon's huge amount of buyer traffic will always be greater than your site even if you do a great job of creating traffic with Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Think about this - over the last 24 hours how many buying customers went to Amazon looking for a product like yours? Did they see your products? Do you know how easy it is to set up an FBA account and send them a small amount of your inventory?

It sounds like you have an excellent source of the products so it seems like a no-brainer to me, at least give it a try.

If you plan on not having any inventory I hope you are certain that the product is always available for you to "go directly to the distributor to purchase the item and ship."

It seems like you may run the risk of the distributor being out of stock. Also if you get lots of orders, and hopefully you will, in seems like this method will be rather labor intensive. With FBA you make few shipments and later get lots of emails from Amazon indicating that you have made a sale.
