Why should I care about blogging???

I have mainly been dealing with article/content marketing so far. I know that I need to get into blogs/forums/groups to help promote my sites, but I don't understand how to get started. I sell personalized gift-plaques through one of my sites. I'm not sure where to find blogs or forums where I can make comments about plaques.

Or do I just find random places to make comments on whatever so I can put out links in my sig file?

Blogging is great for sharing your views and also to improve your main website's authority. I work for a web design company and we use our blog frequently to add new content to our website. This has a positive effect on our ranking on search engines as well as allowing us to share our thoughts with others. Ever since we started our first blog on our main company website, our search traffic has grown to 200%. We now have 3 blogs although we struggle to add content on all 3.

I just googled personalized gift plaques blogs and found this one. Plaques — Blogs, Pictures, and more on WordPress there are more. Have you thought about how your market relates to others. Say weddings, aniversaries etc. I am sure there are tons of blogs promoting things for these occasions, why not comment on those? Have you thought about create squidoo lens with relevant good content and point it back to your site? Lens and blogs are all I do right now and I don't even have a site yet, but it works for me.

You could create for starters one lens or blog on aniversary gifts, one for graduation gifts, so on and so on. Direct some articles to your blog or lens and from there they go to your site. In time the lens or blog will start to get organic traffic and you will be pulling in visitors that you would not have had had you not had the lens or blog.

Hope that helps, I am still pretty new at this, but I love it.

I find that having a blog is very important and without it i dont believe i would have as many backlinks through to my different products/services. Plus if your writing a review for a product via ezinearticles it saves on all the messing around.

I have been creating blogs and sqidoos (among many other kinds of content sites) with content talking about the different categories of plaques we offer. I create these sites based on keywords that I have researched that have to do with the different plaque categories.

Now I am trying to find other blogs and forums to post on. Most of the blogs that I have found related to my products are sites promoting their own products, and I'm sure they wouldn't want me promoting my stuff on their site.
