Posting duplicate content on blog.

I was wondering if it will seriously hurt your blog's google rank if you post your articles that you have written for ezinearticles.com on your blog? Will google penalize you for duplicate content or would you be fine?

Thanks

    Hi Jan,

I can't answer your specific question about affecting your blog page ranking, but I can tell you first hand, that if you do a blog post and then try to submit the same to ezine articles, they will reject it. Happened to me yesterday.

    Cheers,
    Graham

Rather than try to give you an answer and how I think it works here is Googles actual response. You will get all sorts of people saying all sorts of things so just go straight to the source.

            Hi Quentin,

In amongst all that "ra ra" from Google is this little line of text:

"Google will always show the version we think is most appropriate for users in each given search, which may or may not be the version you'd prefer"

The version they display will be the one with the most authority...

So if you plan to post an article on EzineArticles and your blog, chances are the Ezine version will make it into the search engines first, and in time your blog version will replace it (when it gets more links).

Except Google is hardly a trustworthy source. They don't want people to know exactly how their search engine works and are not beyond outright lying to throw people off track. Their primary concern is to make money. If they have nothing to lose, they will screw you.

    I dunno.

But reposting on blogs and ezines is what Ezinearticles is for, isn't it? So I'd guess it won't hurt.
