Pros and Cons of making an online store.

Hi,

I'm thinking of taking my blog to the next level by implementing an online store.

My first question is, how do I do this? I'm new to this side of things so if anyone could point me in the direction of a how to add an online store to my website with Wordpress, that would be much appreciated.

Secondly, what are some pros and cons about running an online store, and is this a profitable way of making an income online.

Further details about me, I hve a couple of suppliers who are happy for me to mark up their products. They will deal with all shipping and handling. I also have a number of affiliates in my niche that I can use to sell products.

    That is where you should have asked in the first place...

    What you are describing is dropshipping, the margins tend to be very narrow with this model.
    Also you are at the mercy of your "suppliers" when it comes to delivery times and customer support so bear that in mind.
    Another problem you will face is TRUST, people tend to buy from trusted sites, eBay,Amazon,Newegg etc. You will have to build trust with buyers.
    Traffic, you will need to drive a ton of targeted traffic to your site and then convert that traffic into sales...

    You can create full wp e-commerce with subdomain from your main domain, like yourdomainname. com/store. If using WP there's link to page plugin so your subdomain will show on your homepage.I have done it before with my clients, but their sites most are Amazon stores.
