![]() I only had like 5-6 tabs opened, no flashy sites or alot of videos loading or stuff. If I open 2-3 youtube videos at a time or stuff like that it shoots up to 1GB RAM+ Most of the times it stays at ~500 MB but this is pretty often too, so its not a 1 time case...it happens daily to me and it slows down the browser and my pc. It doesn't matter what type of websites I open, it still uses the same amount of memory. Anyone have any idea why? and how can I fix it? |

not sure firefox. I used opera and has the similar problems. basically, it is because the memory is not correctly released by broswer (or windows). when it happens, minimize your browser, it should be forced to release the memory. at least, it is true for opera.

Yep. I have mine crawl up to a gig of ram. I don't think it is firefox itself that is memory leaking but a plugin. On my computer it was the SEO for firefox plugin that caused it. I just disabled the plugin and the memory is stays under 200mb. I enable it when i need it.

Mine do stays under 150 MB for most of the time. However, it takes at least 10 seconds to load when I first launch it!

there are ways to reduce mem usage. Youtube it first, there's some common tricks which work quite well and they also speed up the performance.
One of my favorites is using Tiny Menus...so your menu bar is compressed and just a thing slither across the top. I also disabled and removed any unused plug ins. They kill your browser and are pointless unless you use them religiously. |
