I Didn't Wanna Do It...

But I went ahead and started a blog. Yeah, me - a blog.

So, after listening to what all the top players here are telling me, I went ahead and did it. I went with a WordPress theme on a new domain I created just for this blog. I figure if I keep the content relatively fresh and valid, it'll help a lot more in the longrun than a plain (or fancy) website to build my list. And that's what it's all about, right? Building a targeted list to presell all the related affiliate products?

So, I've got 6 niche related affiliate company banners there so far. A top wide banner, a side long banner, and 4 150x150 blocks on the side.

I also put in a datafeed using Soflyy's "WP All Import" plugin. I guess I should have read the User's Manual (or at least watched the tutorial video), because I now have 18,148 new posts... Oops!

Also, I'm not going to use any type of squeeze technique - just an opt-in with some sort of "I Just Can't Pass This Up" incentive. I'll be using Constant Contact because of the bells & whistles. They'll actually come in quite handy with this particular niche. I'll keep my GetResponse account for my other test campaign that I made $20 on, though.           I make more money without them than with them, myself. They dissuaded the "future best customers" from subscribing, because they made my sites/blogs look like "just another marketer's site" rather than something with real credibility.

          Be careful: "added bonuses" often carry a hidden "opportunity cost".

        i like to have a portfolio style site and a blog, then i have a few funnels!

      Blogs and review sites are touted as the most profitable way to earn online for a reason. Like you I fought the idea for quite some time (think I was afraid it would be too much work ) but when I embraced the idea and took action, I saw RESULTS!

        I love Wordpress because it truly does make everything so much simpler. You can get your site up within minutes and if you prefer you can still make it look like a traditional website by changing the home page to static as opposed to only showing your updated posts.

        Definitely consider eliminating the majority of your ads though....at least in the very beginning. If you do plan on building a relationship with your visitors, then they have to believe you are truly there to help them, not just get them to click on your ads.

    If you use wordpress, you have everything (A website, membership portals, sales page)
    using Plugins.

    I used to have a website that I added content to as often as possible, but all of the HTML issues I had slowed me down. I found that blogging was the answer to my content adding problem. Unless you are going to have something like an E-commerce website, or you are going to buy advertising and have that directed to your site, you may want to consider a blog, especially if you are going to be generating traffic organically

    Even though I am currently using Blogger, I used to use WordPress. WordPress has quite a bit of flexibility to it that Blogger doesn't. The reason I switched? flexibility and ease. I have so many daily tasks that I do promoting myself both online and off, that I barely have any time to devote to fixing Website issues, so that's my reason for using Blogger.

    Like I say, it all depends on how you are PLANNING your marketing. (You are planning this out, right?) If you aren't planning, I would like you to sit down and take some time to do so. Without that crucial, step, you will face much rougher seas.

    I agree that Wordpress is definitely the way to go. With all of the plugins available (both free and paid) you can have your site up in minutes and looking as professional as any other
    site out there.

    Awesome, Phil. Once you know your way around Wordpress with some practice, you'll be able to have a blog and website too. That's what I do with every site now. I like it a lot. Congratulations.
