Health and fitness. Funny memes aren't going to do your traffic any good over the long run because the memes change over time and nobody is going to go to your site and be impressed with your pages of old memes.

But health and fitness are evergreen markets and will be until the end of the internet. Which is never.

Of course, somebody would be far more inclined to share a funny picture than advice on treating lower back pain or getting rid of embarrassing health issues.

You'll probably find it's easier to pull traffic to a meme site, but the real question is how are you going to monetize that?

At the end of the day, your traffic numbers aren't important. It's the amount of money those visitors are making you.

Why only one, that does not make any sense at all. Especially, since most hosting services have plans for multiple domains on one plan

I would go for the health and fitness niche. It is one of the largest and most popular niches there is. If you're not sure what to promote, consider the workout programs Insanity by Shaun T (the number one workout program searched for in Google for 2014) and P90X by Tony Horton (another popular program in 2014).

    Good luck,

It actually depends on what your interests are. The fun niche vs the more serious one. The health and fitness niche is probably one of the largest and perhaps most profitable ever green niches. But there is just too much competition with too many big players in the market. So marketing affiliate products is still your best option if you want to start a site in this niche.

Funny memes are easily available on Facebook nowadays so I would choose a health/fitness website.

Depends each has its pros and cons:

    Funny/Meme Site

    Pros:
-content easier to get to go viral on social platforms such as
    twitter,youtube,redditt,facebook

    -has higher traffic potential

    -easy to produce content

    Cons
-Because sites in this niche are targeted to a more general audience and entertainment based, it is more difficult to sell them a highly profitable item. People looking at memes aren't trying to solve a problem nor are they trying to find out new information
on how to improve their lives. They are there strictly for entertainment purposes.

I've gotten visitors in this niche to purchase funny t-shirts, but the commissions for t-shirt sites are relatively low. But alternaitvely a cpa offer might be more profitable.

the best bet would probably be to get traffic monetize it with a cpa offer then sell it on Flippa since flippa buyers love sites in that niche.

    Health/Fitness

    Pros
-Easier to sell highly profitable items within the niche since visitors are looking for solutions for their health/fitness related problem
    -More long term income potential

    Cons
-Highly competitive and requires more investment in time, maintenance, and possibly money (in backlinking and ad campaigns) to make it seriously profitable

I'd go with the health and fitness niche, although it's over saturated already. However... so is the funny meme niche! So, why not just try both? It's really cheap to get a domain name and hosting, you can give it a try and after 1 year, decide which one to keep.

Neither "health" nor "fitness" is a niche.

      They're both huge "markets".

That said, given this choice, I would certainly go for a niche within either "health" or "fitness" (but really a niche - not a market!) rather than the "funny meme" idea. Much easier to monetize, for the reasons Michael mentioned above (post #5).

Pursue a Niche within the Health and Fitness Market.

But it is hugely competitive and somehow and someway you must really set yourself apart.

Do something radical. Adopt a crazy persona. Punch people in the face so to speak

Being crazy along with excellent Value is the way to go in this ultra competitive market.

Trying to monetize "funny"-related sites is a real uphill battle. I have tried and I abandoned the idea pretty quickly.

Yes, funny sites can draw a lot of traffic. The problem is . . . the kind of traffic you attract is not conducive to making a lot of money.

I've thought a lot about this and the problem is, IMO, that "funny" is not a market or a niche. Therein lies the challenge. Any person, with interests in any niche imaginable, can enjoy "funny" web sites but they don't go there to spend money. They go to funny sites to relax, to enjoy, to laugh, and to take a break from the more serious activities of the day.

"Funny" doesn't offer a pool of prospects with a common interest and so it is not at all targeted. You need targeted traffic to make your marketing profitable.

Long answer to your question . . . but I would stay away from funny if you want to make money!

        The best to you.

I'd definitely do Health and Fitness. There are several ways to make a profit in that niche. You should choose that one where you have the most interest.

For affiliate marketing health and fit. For massive traffic (if you know how to do it) and monetize with ads or other sources, memes. 2 completely different strategies.

    Stay with meme stuff.

Based on dozens of threads with the same or very similar questions asked over and over again, and what appears to be your lack of dedication in sticking to a particular niche or method without bouncing out to a dozen other ideas that have been done to death...it doesn't sound like you have the kind of dedication and skill to run a successful REAL "health" blog that isn't rehashed affiliate link spammed junk for clickbank products on miracle berries and other snake oil.

You're looking at "health" as a market because it makes money, not because you have anything to contribute to it. Sites like that are a dime a dozen and are rarely ever going to make money.

Stick with just posting other people's pictures. It requires no skill or passion to put together quality materials, just the ability to post the crap out of the content on all the social sites.

This post above is a similar opinion I get from reading your posts. You seem to be all over the place. Amazon, Health/ Fitness site, a few weeks ago you asked about spun content. Last week it was hosting affiliate programs... It may not be what you want to hear, but stay with the meme for awhile... You can always throw adsense on to the site. When your traffic leaves the site it may make you a few bucks.

Ask yourself a few questions do you have a plan? Do you have any goals in mind ? You seem to lack direction and need a path to follow.

actually now I more on health and fitness...

competitive is tough as many say yes...

for meme ..the biggest is 9GAG ....etc

meme wise the competitive is there , I saw quite a aloe website on funny , meme etc stuff...too

I curious is between health and fitness vs meme which one will gain traffic fast?

this is what I conclude after some members comments if I not wrong

health and fitness can last longer ...and sell many health , fitness related niche too but initial stage or even for many months traffic is slow ...have to build up , need a lot of time ..also if have money have to buy a few services to boast its traffic

for meme wise ..." might not last longer " Biggest most popular meme 9GAG is there..also many others funny sites etc.

Traffic can " easily go viral " as you can see from social media .people tend to share , cute , funny , meme , types of post.

setback , cannot sell much niche ....more on ads ...on it

As Alexa said,Health & Fitness is a great market and a lot of competition there. You can work in a lot of niche under health and fitness. But i would prefer to work on the second one. Its something creative..Less competitor then the first one. And has a very good potential with long term passive earning guarantee.

While there will be many people who are interested in browsing content on a Health/ Fitness website, just about everyone likes funny memes. You can create memes that pertain to many niches and you will never run short of ideas while covering so many niches. I would suggest starting a website on funny memes.
