When Im making a backlink in an article directory should I link to the original article or is that a big no no? Right now I've just been linking to my homepage, but want to link to my original article with the anchor text for SEO. I thought I've read somewhere it's bad to link to the original but I can't find it and want to make sure. Thanks |

Ideally you should have articles pointing to pages throughout your site. Some should link to your home page and others to the various inner pages. This will help build up your overall link authority. Plus you can customize each article/inner page to nudge the reader into taking your preferred course of action.

Think about what the user wants to find when they click the link. Maybe a new article about the same topic would be better. This is of course assuming you expect to get traffic from the link. Typically I would have a new article with my call to action contained within it as my landing page for an article link. |
