Where Should I Advertise My Whiteboard Animation Service?

Hi everyone!

I had this idea of creating a whiteboard creation service, I've seen lots of vendors that create info products use them to present their products so I know it's useful. I'm writing to see if anyone has an idea of where I can promote my service.

I was thinking I could sell my service by personally emailing local businesses in my city and telling them they could use my videos on their website to gain more customers, but after writing 50 or so emails and only getting 1 response with no sales, I realize this attempt doesn't work. I've since tried a few solo ads, craigslist, and I even emailed 20 or so internet marketing bloggers to see if they would promote me to their list and I would give them $99 a customer they send me, but I still get no responses from all these attempts.

I'm trying to stick to free methods of promotion and advertising. Any ideas on how I can make this work?

All responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I see a fair number of businesses advertising the same service as you in Los Angeles
under Services > Computer and even more so under Services > Creative

los angeles computer services "whiteboard" - craigslist
los angeles creative services "whiteboard" - craigslist

With Craigslist as with any other marketing platform, a consistent marketing presence and message gets rewarded. You can't just do "hit and run marketing" the same as you wouldn't in Google, Facebook. business directories or other marketing channels.

You may want to try and offer a free 30 second trial teaser video to local businesses to get them hooked on your service, want to see more and make a deposit into their trust bank.

    Hope this helps

Have you thought about marketing right here on the Warrior Forum? Unlike many local businesses, most of the business owners on this forum actually understand what whiteboard animation entails.

You may still have an uphill battle. I have seen many whiteboard ads for both software and services. So you've got to prove, in your marketing, that you offer something that others don't have. There must be a reason why your service is a bargain and better than all other alternatives. Have you identified what that reason is and have you highlighted it to your customers?

BTW, some of us are getting tired of whiteboard drawing, especially if it is long and drawn out. "Too much" and it's very painful to watch.

      Good luck,

      Steve

You could also try Fiverr. There are people who are offering these services and you could get ideas from them how they arrange their pricing etc

Thanks for the free 30 second idea, I really like that! I will give that a shot. I will have to stay consistent with the marketing ideas, just been throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks, but I think consistency is king. I will apply these. Thanks!

The Warriors For Hire section of this site would be a good place to start. It's paid-for, but good value for money.

You need to become a better salesman.
You need to sell your service better.
And you need to offer more than just one services because then you can profit by having to offer more than just one thing to your customer.
You should create a website for yourself and post your services there and then you can start advertising it, use it in your signature, and even send paid traffic to your service page on your website.

    Thanks everyone for your responses!

In response I would like to ad that I would like to promote to people outside of the IM niche as I'm charging more than the prices on Fiverr and I'm sure internet marketers already know about Fiverr.

I have a website to promote and I feel like I can write a good sales letter or even a good article if I need to.

Can anyone suggest FREE METHODS of advertising to get in front of people outside of the IM niche?

    Free method to advertise?

Simply create your own best and HQ whiteboard video about your service and POST it on YouTube!
Make it rank for your local area. That's it!

Tell people why they must buy from you! Give them real fact!

And then upload more whiteboard video samples you've created.
Use your YT channel as your portfolio page.
Link this page to your website page.

    Hope it helps.

There's quite a few options. As craigsposterpro you can give away videos, then upsell other videos and marketing services.

Another option is to "rent" the videos. Make videos for local businesses with high profit margins, so that if they make a sale they make serious money.

Basically to do this, you create a video and get it to rank on Youtube and Google, as well as create a page with the video embedded and ranked in Google.

Then you sell leads. You set up a phone forwarding service such as www.callrail.com/agency/. CallRail lets you set it up so your clients can log in and check their stats to see how many calls you created. And since it's a third party, you have trust with your clients.

You then charge by the lead. This means clients have no risk and only pay for the results you send them, making it an easier sell. If they stop paying, just find another customer and redirect the call forwarding to their number.

You can also make more money by selling leads instead of videos.

Once you get traffic and phone calls, there's a number of things you can do. You can let a business try it free for 7 or 30 days to prove yourself, then have the business make you an offer per lead to continue your service. If you don't like their offer, try it with another business. But you must do this with businesses that make big profits per sale, like DUI lawyers, etc.

If you have a client willing to pay per lead, you can invest money in driving traffic to increase the leads, etc.

The key is to get targeted traffic for the business, then have a video and/or sales letter that gets phone calls. This system will then sell itself if you let businesses know that if they don't sign up, their competitor will...you're just giving them the first shot.

You could have a portfolio website in which you present previous projects to your new "customers" and that way they might like your service and purchase it. Same thing web designers do with their services.

1st... let me tell that sending mails work for you... out of 50 mails you got 1 return, that's pretty good... if you make 1 sale on 100 or 150 mails, and if you are giving $99 to list owners per sale, means that your video is at leas $150, probably higher... that leads to following: You make $1 or more per every email... so try to look at it like that!
(I am doing B2B SEO with very targeted businesses and I get maybe a little bit better results cold emailing... and as far as list owners... they do not care what they sell... they only want max $$$... so they would rather sell few bucks guides and keep their subs active... and they are probably getting emails from all kind of people all the time!)

You could try cold calling the businesses with skype or your own phone!

You can go on fiverr, freelancer, odesk, some video designer sites, make your profile on thumblr etc...

Hope it helped and encouraged you...

you can find work for a gig like this on

    odesk
    freelancer
    guru
    fiverr
    elance
    peopleperhour

however quite honestly relative to other SEO and online services it is a rather niche market and doesn't have huge demand like other things do. If you are offering services you should upsell a package along with it , such as video marketing or video backlinking.

There are alot more demand graphic artists jobs in online marketing, however I don't think this one thing alone is going to be easy to gain instant traction from as relative to standard services like traffic generation, backlinking, or content writing if you don't upsell it with another service.
