You lose or quit your full time normal job (working for somebody else) which was your main source of income.

Unless you find a new job straight away you'll not be able to pay next months rent, bills or eat.

You have $500 to your name and one month to raise $1000 for your rent, bill etc.

If you didn't have a list or website or product to sell, your own or otherwise.

You will also need to make this sustainable to be able to continue making enough money to at least cover your usual expenses.

How would you do this?

All you have is your computer and the internet.

Best idea i've heard all month.

I would go to sperm bank, plasma bank, red cross, and apply at a local grocery store. Then i would sell the PS4, Xbox, and HD Flatscreen TV on Amazon.

You should read the book "Desperate For Money" by Shawn Casey.

It's possible to make that kind of money online with that budget in this short period of time, but you'll need experience.

As Jeff said, if you really need the money i think a regular job would be your best bet

Its guarenteed money to get the regular job if you can get one that will pay you well enough and quickly enough.

So, you wouldn't set up a one page site full of copy, selling the living hell out of a product list?

What list? You said in your first post we don't have an existing list...

So, I know IM is not for everybody, there IS no guarantee of success. I'd rather KEEP my $500 instead of hoping I can triple it (or possibly lose it all), and get a job.

Once things are financially stable, I'd get back into IM again and work on building up my business.

There's a difference between losing your job and quitting a job with $500 in your pocket and bills to pay to chase some dream of working online.

Although, either way the hypothetical person probably has terrible money management. (Assuming the person was let go) The intelligent thing would obviously be to contact every person you know looking for a job and apply everywhere with a vacancy.

(Assuming the person quit) The intelligent thing would be not to quit your job when you can't pay your bills and don't have another source of income lined up.

Hopefully, that's more of a feel good story.

^ Jeff is definitely giving some great advice. The danger of spending your $500 when you're in that circumstance and that desperate is that you'll be making business decisions out of desperation. It's dangerous because all of your decisions will be around how you can rapidly accrue revenue... which means that oftentimes you forego all of the things that will build long-term sustainability and profitability.

    M, get a job.

Get a job, whatever it is, make some dough, save that dough and do the stuff that professional, full-time entrepreneurs online do: they typically create awesome content, and inspired products, and form bonds with power brokers, because they are *pulled to be brilliant, and to inspire their audiences* instead of being *pushed by circumstances like feeling pressure to pay bills, etc*.

I write, because I have lived both experiences.

in truth M, you can rock it out and have success trying to force the internet to make your money, but once you attach to outcomes, you generally won't become super successful and free, as quickly as the good who is creating something special, and epic, because he's trying to inspire his audience, NOT trying to pay da bills

Either way, all the best to ya You'll rock it out.

I'd get the job, build a comfy savings cushion, then you can start from a prospering space online, and you'll become a full time online pro, with cash flow and you'll enjoy the hell out of the process.

    Onward and upward!

I still find it amusing how these types of posts come up ALL the time.

Instead of "what would you do if you had to start over" - or "what would you do if you had $200" - people are posting stuff like this.

The answer hasn't changed....I wonder when they'll learn?

Edit: These types of posts have been coming up for YEARS, just use the search feature you'll find PLENTY of useful (and repeated) information:

    1) Pick a specific problem to solve. EX: "How to Write a Sales Page That Converts"

    2) Research the crap out of that subject [Yes you can actually create a good product even if you don't initially know anything about that subject] Segment your product into different parts and organize before you start. It will be less overwhelming and easier to actually create your product.

    3) Create a $17 product on "How to Write a Sales Page That Converts" then you will create a $97 product that is a "Done For You" "Fill in the Blank" template sales pages. Why this works is because the $17 product isn't suppose to make you much money but what it's suppose to do is be a low end no risk offer to convert people into buyers. Then you could expect a 20% or so conversion rate on the $97 upsell where you make the real money. Also the $97 product is a faster and more efficient "system" that they can create sales pages quickly that's why it would sell well. Also it wouldn't be too hard for you to go online and create "fill in the blank" templates that you can model after.

    3) Now create a free product that you can offer people so they will subscribe into your list. Create something that is of actual great value and is ultra-specific and can be consumed in 5 minutes or less. For this example you would create a free gift that, "Free Report Reveals Top 5 Formulas To Create Flawless Headlines" Do what you did before. Research and create the product.

*Remember all these products are just examples*

    4) Sign up for a $1 trial at Aweber & then sign at lead pages as well. You will be able to create autoresponder messages and sales pages with both those services.

    5) Go to leadpages and create a squeeze page with the headline I said above and as soon as someone opts in through your squeeze page it will redirect to the sales page of your $17 product then those who purchase that will be redirected to your $97 product. So, set that up.

    6) Then go and create autoresponder messages that will introduce them to your list and will also give them a link to your free product if they haven't looked at it yet. Over the next few days/weeks give them messages that build your credibility and trust with them as well as free content on copywriting topics. Then find out who hasn't purchased the $17 product or $97 product or both and send a few emails and re-promotes those products to those people.

    7) Send traffic to the squeeze page. I highly recommend going to Facebook PPC for this. Find your target market who would be interested in your solution. Create a headline and body ad copy for your Facebook ads. Then create 50-100 ads with the same ad copy but each with a different picture. The facebook picture accounts for 70% of the success of the ads. Then create different ad copy than the first but then 50-100 ads with all different pictures. Set your daily budget to $10 per day and test and find the highest ROI ads and bang you got targeted cheap traffic to your funnel.

Obviously this is a broad and quick over-look but if you actually followed this I promise you could create a lot more than your rent costs. This kind of model creates 6 and 7 figure incomes for a lot of people.

If you REALLY wanted to make this money you need. You could create all the products in 3 days and the rest of the funnel in 2-3 days as well. Traffic w/ testing could take 7 days and your on your way.

    best of luck.

PS- most people that come here asking questions like you are read the answers [and good one's such as mine] but are too lazy and ignorant to try. Hopefully that's not you.

The reason why I posted this was that, I have a normal job that I simply am not enjoying one bit at the moment and if I left would have about $500 to spend.

I am looking at creating a training course or academy for my website, so setting this up and driving traffic to it through facebook ppc or adwords would be something I would look at to generate some supplementary income, just so that in a couple of months I can just hand in my notice at my normal job.

So, its create a product a minimum viable product, a premium version and a opt in magnet for free, then drive traffic too it.

Sounds like something I can do fairly quickly.

Takenaction, you do make some good points and it may be doable but not with $500. best bet is get a lob quickly. I saw nothing about picking a domain name or hosting cost. A job now puts food on the table. Internet marketing may not and who wants to be under the gun every month?

Mrnace, you have quite few suggestions here and a few with a sense of humor. The common thread to all of them is to find some kind of real job for the time being.

It is the best advice you or anybody can get for the immediate time. Go back to work somewhere for now, and use the spare time and money you have wisely.

If anything, if you feel good about your writing skills, get set up on either elance, or odesk, or one of the other freelance sites and try to do some writing in your spare time to help fund some other things.

You may or may not make enough to really propel you forward, but you can begin some kind of cash flow after awhile. You don't have to be an expert writer for many of the jobs. In many cases, just somebody who will handle simple writing jobs in a timely manner is what people want.

It is a major trap when people think they can lose a job and jump online and begin to immediately replace their income. You don't want to invest in things out of desperation like that.

Right now, getting a job and maybe writing articles or blog posts or something for people in your spare time is the best direction I can point you in.

In the meantime, you can begin to research other opportunities that may be a good fit. But, please do your due diligence, research youtube or other sites, and don't rush into an opportunity based on quick, surface information. Go a little deeper and research things.

Maybe this helps. Think it through and ask questions in here. People here are glad to help you.

Get another job, making enough money online to survive in just one month is next to impossible.

So, either you spend a lot of it on the lottery or something, another real, physical job would be your best bet.

Online marketing and business management is a marathon, not a sprint race.

    Just my two cents.

Through my experience no one ever hits rock bottom completely. Usually you find the money at the end of the month. People tend to tap into their power when that happens and never use it once they fixed their situation. This happened to me a year ago. You gotta strive to make 5-10k a month not just 1k. Always shoot for the moon and don't slow down once your goal is reached. Learn how other people are making money and just duplicate. Make sure your friend circle are not all broke people as well. Your closest 5 friends will determine your bank account.

I would apply for unemployment and either work on finding a new job or do freelance work online for already established sites. Once I had a job, I would use my free time to work on building a website, which is a long term reward. Trying to earn money with an online business is something that usually takes a lot of time an effort. From my observation most people take at least 3 months to make their first affiliate sale.

This has actually happened to me 3 years ago. I had saved up 6 month of income in my saving accounts and quit my job. That meant I had a 6 month window to fuel my internet marketing business and make a passive income. If I didn't within those 6 months, I'd be out of money and in debt. This motivated me to do internet marketing and 3 years later, I'm a six figure earner.

Anyone can do it, you just need the right motivation. My motivation was to survive after the 6 months of savings were to disappear. I simply offered services on Fiverr and built a list of emails from the buyers. This led to me promoting ClickBank products to them which got me $1,400 in 2 months. That then led to me creating a high end software which boosted my sales to $20,000 after getting JVs with huge lists to promote it.

Now I'm in charge of 6 multiple income streams which make me over $100,000 every year.

When I was in the beginning of my email marketing days, I found a free software that made me $300 in 1 week. It's called Auto Affiliate X. It's basically a ready made squeeze page that offers a software for people. All you need is a domain and hosting as well as an auto responder. Once they are all connected, you just bring traffic to the squeeze page and that's it. You are ultimately building a list as well as earning money from their affiliate program which pays every time someone signs up to your list.

Hypothetically, you're getting paid to build your list.

There's other ways to make money too. Build a teespring campaign and spend around $20 to promote it. If you make no sales after spending $10, stop the campaign and start another. It's all about taking risks in the internet marketing world. Nothing is guaranteed.
