Article Marketing Help Needed?

I know a fb friend who's earning is around $2k per month with article marketing. He is a clicksure affiliates. He told me that, he is just writing product review articles and putting direct aff links. And he earned over $2k with this method

He told me that,
1) he selected 5 products
2) he wrote 30 unique articles
3) Submitted random articles to various blogs and sites.

My question is: What he means with various blogs and sites? are they article directories? But i think article directories dont approve affiliate links?
Can you help with with some article directory which allows affiliate links?

It wouldn't be useful information. You won't make sales that way, and your friend doesn't, either. (Possibly he did, around 7-8 years ago, but even that's a little bit of a credibility-stretch, really.)

There are many people earning that and much more, from article marketing, but what you describe in the post above has nothing to do with article marketing at all. At best, it's article directory marketing (that's a totally different traffic-generation technique and a very outdated and poor one indeed).

With apologies for sounding such a skepchick, I don't believe that your friend is making money in the way you describe.

If it helps/interests you, here are a few posts giving an overview of how article marketing actually works ...

Using the articles: Your article writing ISN'T working! This is why:

How article directories work: How do Article Directories work?

The best websites for you, for getting articles published, are the websites that already have the targeted traffic in your niche that you want to attract to your own site. Those sites are not article directories!

Nobody can possibly give you a list of suitable websites without knowing what your niche is, and what traffic demographics you want to attract.

For publishing articles, the first and foremost place, of course, should always be your own site (and nowhere else until they've been published and indexed there). After that, anywhere that's specifically relevant to the subject of your niche, so that you can attract targeted traffic from the readers/visitors of those sites. Suggestions on "how to find those sites" are here, and some suggestions on "how to ask them to publish your article/post" are here.

(It's very much less important, of course, but even the backlinks from those context-relevant sites are also worth something to your site, just because of their relevance - Google values that. But of course all you can ever get from Google is "search engine traffic", which tends to be of limited value and is often temporary, too).

Don't forget ezines, as well as websites. Their traffic can often be highly targeted and responsive, and their subscribers pretty attentive.

("Ezines" are not the same thing as "article directories", of course).

Also, offline sources (magazines, even newspapers) commonly re-publish articles, and these can produce real floods of traffic (acceptance is generally more difficult, and there's more work involved and a bigger learning-curve, but the benefits can really be dramatic!).

After that, it's also worth mentioning Ezine Articles. That isn't an ezine: it's the web's best-known article directory, and can be used as a way of achieving some additional, "passive syndication", i.e. when publishers look there for content to re-publish (that being the purpose of article directories). It's only a minor afterthought, compared with everything mentioned above, but it can sometimes be a good and helpful afterthought. (I submit all my articles there - after they've been extensively published elsewhere, of course - and I do sometimes benefit from it, a little. It's free, anyway. But don't imagine that publishing articles yourself and then putting the additional copy in Ezine Articles is "doing article marketing": it isn't, at all).

In contrast, it's not worth mentioning any other article directories, and for all the reasons explained in this post, no article marketer would want their potential customer traffic coming to their sites via an article directory anyway: that isn't how article directories work, isn't what they're intended for, and isn't a benefit they can provide, either. This thread explains how to use them: How do Article Directories work?

Very last on the list, and the "lowest of the low" are probably "Web 2.0 sites", which tend to come with all sorts of problems and disadvantages for article marketers, and very few (if any) additional benefits, for all the kinds of reasons explained here.

The rule of thumb (and it's a pretty good and valid and reliable one) is that anywhere where you can just "submit your own content", on your own, without any sort of editiorial approval/acceptance process probably isn't going to be of any real benefit to you. That isn't really "content syndication" at all. That's more "what the people who end up thinking that 'content syndication doesn't work' think 'content syndication' means"! Be aware that article syndication is a real relationship-building business.

Here are a few other threads (some of them quite helpful) which include a big mixture of comments on the subject of "where to submit articles" ... don't let any of the dates put you off: the key components and principles of this targeted traffic-generation method haven't really changed for a couple of decades.

There's enough hard, reliable, proven, current, tested, income-producing information in the links above to sink a battleship. If you really want to learn about how to do article marketing successfully and make a living from it, I suggest that you take a week or two to study it all carefully.

And stop listening to the friend who told you what you mentioned above, because his "information" appears (like so much else one sees on this subject) to come from the Urban Myth School of Internet Marketing. Good luck!

Here is what exactly he is saying about the method:

"At first, I selected five binary products. Proudly saying, there were no criteria for the selection. I just went through all the sales pages and chose which one looked to be better to me. That’s all it. Then I wrote 30 unique review articles for the five selected binary products. After random submission of all 30 articles to different sites and blogs, I created 5 facebook pages for the 5 selected products. After all that what I did is nothing but the optimization of my articles to get a better rank in Search Engine. What have I done? Only social networking and sharing using FB, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, Digg, Google+, YouTube, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Quora etc. along with a good number of other social book marking sites.
It takes two weeks to get the first result. First three weeks went over with only three sales. The best result I got just in last two weeks with 9 sales. The pic is of the first three sales’ paycheck."

Now tell me how to do so?

The so-called "case study" is either complete bullshit, or a decade out of date, or possibly both. Your friend has no idea what he's talking about, just like our friend who offered post #3 above (and does the same thing, daily, throughout the forum, on a vast range of subjects, usually with absolutely no idea of what's he's talking about at all ).

I suggest that you stop listening to this friend. That nonsense has nothing to do with article marketing, and it has nothing to do with earning a living, either.

Affiliate marketing is indeed a good way to earn some money, but I doubt he made that much money in just 1 month, and with such little effort. Besides, whoever earns that much money with such a 'sure" method, will probably not share the secret on facebook

Article marketing is legit, but what your friend is selling you doesn't even begin to describe it. What this is is a pretty sloppy, démodé method that you could once use to earn a few nicker over a short period, before the house of cards inevitably came crashing down.

If you want to learn about real, sustainable article marketing then there are certainly some very knowledgeable people here who can help you with that, as well as a plethora of threads where discussions about article marketing best practices and implementation have been done to death. Just so long as you know that what you've described here bears virtually no resemblance to it.

As an aside (and not to cast any judgement on your friend in particular), be wary of some of the crap people spin on Facebook. I always say it, but social networks are a notorious hotbed of boisterous braggarts who'll sell themselves out for a few hipster points.

This method doesn't work. Even when it did, anyone with at least half a moral compass wouldn't have presented it as anything more than a very fleeting opportunity due to an absence of solid foundations, the fact you're essentially tacking your success to the ebb and flow of other sites' continued exposure (look at EzineArticles - if you can manage to find it in the search engine rankings) and aren't fulfilling the core prerequisite of a sustainable business: adding value for the customer.

By the sounds of it, your friend is either sensationalising his success while playing down the amount and tedium of the work, or flat-out leading you a merry dance.

My best advice, either way, would be to fuhgeddaboudit.

AlmostFamous, I agree with both Alexa and Michael (DireStraits): This was a loophole that was remedied by Google through their algorithm updates, which some people exploited. It doesn't work anymore, and, as Michael said, it was a f*cked up way of making money (for more than one reason).

Anyway, what I wanted to ask you is this: is this "fb friend" really a friend, or is he maybe trying to sell you something? Maybe not now, but somewhere down the line. Perhaps now he's trying to impress you, and in a few months, when he "just happens to launch a product," he might invite you to purchase it.

I suppose you're in a marketing/mastermind FB group. Are there products constantly promoted there? Are there articles being written that always lead to an offer? If "yes" is the answer to these questions, then you might want to leave this group.

Excellent point. And I wouldn't be surprised if one day this friend of yours takes you aside and says
" do you have a second I want to show you this Opportunity "
