This internet marketing business is a big fish...

We do not know how it works and we find ourselves giving advice to new beginners. Well I can not be bothered anymore with typing the same story and giving them the same old "create a niche site", "make a list" ...etc.

All I want to say to anyone starting out there... Man Just Have Fun! There are no rules. Ok?

Just go with what you enjoy and skip the parts that are boring. Create a fun business that people will want to be part of and follow up. Don't stress to much about the "How" Just go out there and start it...Today or latest tomorrow - so you can think it over

    Kursat,

I understand what you're saying. And even though "there are no rules," as you say, there are principles of success for profitable Internet business and you put the odds of success and profitability in your favor when you follow them. I have learned over the years that just throwing up a web site and hoping to figure things out on your own is the slow, arduous, and risky way to set up a profitable business.

I have a hard time subscribing to this advice you gave . . . "Just go with what you enjoy and skip the parts that are boring." There is much about being a successful business owner that is boring and repetitious, IMO. Daily business execution can be a drag. But these things need to be done and one way to get them done is to hire them out to someone else.

I hear you Steve and you are probably right but I would rather get someone to enjoy what they are doing than ask them to repeat boring tasks that just pay wages. I think we lost the creativity with just sticking to plans and rules. Who would have thought of anything new if we just followed the old boring ways...Just my thoughts.

Great advice here. Much better than the common themes I always see thrown around here like "just take action". You will likely lose a lot of time and/or money just taking uncalculated action. Sometimes, the separation really is in the preparation.

With all due respect, that's really bad advice.

One of the main reasons so many fail at internet marketing is that they treat is as a 'hobby' rather than as a 'business'.

    What's the difference?

A 'hobby' is something you do while it's fun, and when it isn't fun anymore you put it down.

A 'business' is something you do until you get the results you need, whether it's fun or not.

I've been in business a long time, and been in many different businesses.

I can't think of a successful venture - my own or otherwise - that didn't have "parts that are boring", but needed to be done none-the-less.

Skipping those "boring" parts would be like assembling a model using only the easy or cool parts.

I know what you mean about it being repetitive when everybody is looking to be successful online. The secret is that you need to learn from people that have made money & do the same. There is no shortcut to success & if you're not willing to build a great looking website, write interesting articles, build a list with squeeze pages & a nice email capture, then you need to hire somebody to do it for you. As well, if you can't find a way to make $100 or less to make all of this happen, then you need to focus on your day job or go back to school. Just saying...

I'm a newbe but I would like to give you credit for this sound advice. I'm looking to be in this for the long haul and make a full time job of it. It's really fun but I still have a lot of learning to do and have found this site a true Godsend for knowledge.
BTW...This is my 1st post on here ever.

I have to agree with Steven and Ace.

    There are no rules. Ok?
    So...
You don't sell affiliate products, because affiliate networks have rules.
You don't pay taxes, because that's a legal 'rule'.
You don't advertise online, because every site you don't own that you advertise on/through has rules.

Just go with what you enjoy and skip the parts that are boring.
I like watching netflix. Building a business is boring. How much success do you think I will have? Obviously, none.

may be we can build businesses with easy and cool parts that deliver honest, valuable products?
Without rules or doing any of the 'boring work', I highly doubt your "Honest and Valuable" product will ever make a sale.

Well I can not be bothered anymore with typing the same story and giving them the same old "create a niche site", "make a list" ...etc.
Since no one else is going to ask, I guess I will... "Why bother answering questions, or posting complaints about answering questions, when you should be focusing on your business?"

No one is forcing you to respond to the same old questions. The only person you have to blame is yourself.

We do not know how it works
    It shows in this thread.

Just find the kind of marketing that you actually do enjoy, that you can get results with and do more of it.

When ever you enjoy what you do for the shear fun of it and not just the money, it doesn't feel like work. But you have got to remain 'consistent' with the thing that is actually working for you and leaving out stuff that doesn't.

I am a little 'twisted' in the head and actually love marketing.

My wife asked me once if I had millions of dollars already, what would I be doing?

    I said to her...

    "Marketing of course".
