Buying deadbeat domains & forwarding them to your site...

Would it make much sense for me to purchase old sites that were given up on, JUST to forward them to an existing site of mine? Assuming that the site has backlinks that are relevant to my site?

I do this often and it has contributed to my page rank on google i go for ones that are about to expire with godaddy.com and you can get some really good ones for about $10 plus registration of the domain.

    kind regards

Thanks. Do you think any old page would work like that? Or would it have to be related to your site?
