Proof that you can info-market any niche

I saw this making the rounds on cable news yesterday and today. Bernie Madoff hired a "prison coach" to prepare for his tenure behind bars. I did a search and found this at the top of the SERP:

Prison Coach: Expert Prison Consultants (877) 726-2247 as well as a handful of competitors

Think about this---sell to white collar criminals and you have perfect customer:

they are scared out of their mind about the upcoming lifestyle change

they have a time constraint

the white collar crooks may have money to pay for upsells

they may want your services to be discreet--sell the privacy angle and charge more

real value--they may learn how to behave, maybe a few moves to survive a fight without getting shivved, who they should beat up or befriend to earn respect, etc

probably get plenty of referrals from defense attorneys, so the leads get qualified even more

Of course, the main credential of the guy I saw on the news was that he served time himself. I'm not looking to experiment in that niche. I'm just saying.

What are some of the least expected niches and products you guys have seen?

Amazing. Who would have thought. Well, obviously some have thought of it.

Years ago the great Gary Halbert seved time for some advertising/direct mail fraud in which he found himself tangled. He wrote about it in one of the books he self published. It seems to me he spent 18 months in the pen, and as I remember, his description of it wasn't pleasant.

That's a pretty funny. I wouldn't want to experiment in that niche either.

That just goes to show you that there is always an angle that can be utilized to work a niche. In this case, a niche I never would have thought of.

LOL yes I saw that too, it really goes to show you that as marketers we need to think outside the realms of what's hot on clickbank and that there really is a market for just about anything.

Quite Funny though I wouldn't want to experiment this.Who would ever believe that this prison stuff would make a good niche afterall.

Seems as every problem is turning out to be a niche these days.

Jesus man that's one of the most desperate buyers I can think of ...esp. the fellow Warrior's suggestion about White Collar crims.

Absolutely - has all of the characteristics of a desparate crowd. But you needn't hav something so extreme, there are so many other "less severe" markets that work extremely well...

1. Everyday health conditions that cause either fear or embarassment - there are hundreds from hemorroids to acne

2. Aging related conditions - there are many, that cause us to fear our place in society, our ability to get people to like us, to attract people and that ever present fear of death (ok, maybe that one is not so "less severe")

3. How to get over "there" - we can count on the human condition never being satisfied where we are in life, we always want to be somewhere else (different job, different house, different relationship, more money,,,) There are hundreds more situations where you can identify a common dream, objective or goal to achieve something more in life...these are great topics

Part 1 of this ongoing, gratis ebook marketing workshop goes into some good detail on finding topics - the comments are great too as we can see the ideas people are already coming up with and working on...
