Double opt in managed mailing list systems that allow list members to broadcast messages usually based on some merit system like clicking urls sent in others' messages.

They're lists of the email addresses of people who have agreed to be willing to receive and open email from others on the list in exchange for being able to send out email to the same list. It's a way of trying to market something to people who are only there because they're trying to market something to you. Don't use your real email address if you join one - get a spare, free one for the purpose. |

Do these work? I mean I've signed up to them, but I always just use a fake e-mail and don't look at the e-mails so I just assume others do the same. I've never gotten very good results. Has anybody else?

2) Since many people use them we should assume that at a certain level they work, shouldn't we? Most of the things that don't work actually work if you know how ![]() 3) Look for credit based safelists. If someone doesn't click on the links from the emails, then that person doesn't get any credit and cannot send her/his own ads unless she/he pays. 4) Read this article: Safelists & Traffic Exchanges: Stop Wasting Your Time Or ...

I think some things essentially "survive" with a constant turnover of new people trying them, discovering that they don't really work, and continually being replaced by more people doing the same. I think "safe lists" might fall into this group of "marketing techniques". They might work a bit for things like low entry cost cash gifting scams, I suppose, because the people receiving the email are people who spend time online and aren't averse to trying different things out for a bit of extra money. But I remain sceptical. You see loads of people saying they don't work. That's not in itself conclusive, certainly, because people can screw up all sorts of things that work well for others who know how to use them better. But very, very rarely do you see any "success" reported with one. That's suggestive, isn't it?

| Well, thank you, what can I say? The sole problem is that the rest of your post seems to prove exactly what I said ("at a certain level they work").1) Right and you see loads of people saying that article marketing doesn't work, ezine advertising doesn't work, etc. It's easy to blame the tool when you don't know to use it ...2) While I don't use safelists because I don't like them, many people say they work. For example Fabian Tan just said it a few hours ago in another thread. I don't have any reason not to believe that safelists work for him and many others ![]() Maybe this is again "superficially logical", but ... sorry, that's all I can do for the moment |
