Moving buyers between lists

So my question is this:

How do you go about moving someone from your "freebie" list to your "buyers" list. What I mean is that I will have them on the freebie list already and I send them to a product offer. Assume someone purchases this offer is there any other way to move them onto the buyers list other than asking them to enter their email again to access the purchase?

Thanks

    Hi Adrian,

If, for example, your payment processor is PayPal and you are using AWeber, you can integrate the two and choose exactly which list a buyer will be moved to automatically when the PayPal transaction is processed - see that option under "My Apps" in the top AWeber navbar:

You also then need to setup their automatic removal from the old Leads list when they get added to the new Buyer List - Automation Rules handles this simply (let me know if you're not sure how and I'll outline the steps below).

In the case of AWeber, they do NOT normally permit email subscribers to be moved from one list to another without re-optin.

There are however TWO exceptions to that rule.

    1. If a subscriber buys from you as outlined in the above scenario with PayPal (may work with other payment processors, depends on which one you currently use).

    2. If they click on a 'Smartlink' from AWprotools, they can also be moved.

Leadpages has a similar mechanism with 'Leadlinks' but AWeber don't currently allow Leadlinks.

You can also manually identify certain subscribers and copy them to a new segment but they will still stay on their existing list and your followup automated options are far more limited with Segments than Lists in AWeber.

This video of mine here illustrates the exact process of integrating AWeber with PayPal:

But this assumes that the users PayPal email is their main email address? Correct?

UPDATE: Though you would hope that AWeber could use cookies to 'uniquify' each subscriber, regardless of the email address, they don't.

      Their official line is:

"The email addresses between AWeber and PayPal would have to be the same email address in order for AWeber to recognize the subscriber and apply the automation rules as intended.

If the email addresses are different, the system would not have a way to determine that "John" is already subscribed he just used a different email address."

The workaround is to use an AWProtools.com 'smartlink' as a download link or the like so that they could be moved to the Buyer list regardless of their Paypal email. That however, adds extra expense to your monthly email services bill and it's a shame AWeber haven't developed their own version.

      Sorry for the earlier confusion.

On a side note Adrian, there is a way to pre-populate your optin box with a visitor's Facebook email address IF they are logged in to Facebook when they visit your optin page and you are using Leadpages.

BUT it doesn't work with AWeber (most other services are covered) and requires Leadpages (until others add this feature, if they don't have it already), no good on mobile either.

My video on that technique is covered here:

just for some final closure could you please clear up this question:

Say for example someone signs up to my list with emailA@email and is receiving my content via that address. Now I send them an offer of mine and they decide to purchase it through paypal. Now there paypal email address is paypalemail@email. I have aweber connected to paypal to add them to the buyers list when they purchase the offer. Now I send an email to only my buyers list. Will the above person receive an email to emailA@email or to paypalemail@email?

Thanks again for this great info!

If you send a broadcast to your buyers list, surely they will receive the email at paypalemail@email.. This is also the email which they will receive their receipt detail when you're using platforms like JVZoo or Warrior Plus..

    Hi,

You can list your product at Warrior Plus and link your
"BUYERS" campaign list to that product listing through
    GetResponse.

Then as son as someone BUYS your offer they will be
    automatically added to that list.

All you'll need to do then is REMOVE them from the prospects list.

OR you can set up an "Automation Rule" where your email A.R. will
do this also automatically for you.
