Hi
Im about to release a new ebook and im wanting to offer an upsell of an existing book. Im wondering of the best way to do this, is it worth building a membership site using optimizepress?

I will be adding new books over time which i want to sell to people who sign up for the first books and im wondering if this may overcomplicate things.

Any advice welcome

The best way to sell an ebook, and upsells, is to sell it to your list.

Build a list, then you can market to them over and over until they buy... then you can move them to another list, and market the upsells to them.

You need a captive audience... building a list will give this to you.

Maybe you can try offering a ebook as a wso and offering a membership site as a upsell.

Unless you're going to be offering new ebooks on a regular basis (every month, say) it's best to avoid having a membership site. A shopping cart program like woocommerce that can support digital downloads would be a better bet IMHO.

As Ben says above: build a list. That way, you can notify customers about new releases and send them a link to the product page on your website.

You can sell your eBook as the front end product and for the future eBooks, you can set the recurring subscription as the Upsell. You can use Jvzoo or Zaxaa to to accomplish this.

Looking at upsells, It depends what your ebook is about if it is in the IM niche such as product creation or list building you could prehaps give them a done for you product such as email swipes they can use in there campaigns or give people PLR rights to your product so they can resell it. If your doing a membership site just offer coaching and a mastermind group i.e (facebook group of your customers and weekly or monthly webinars.)

There are specific circumstances and reasons why a marketer would create a membership site. Adding upsells to an ebook is not one of them.

Membership sites are typically best suited for marketers that are going to provide continuous and "up-to-the-minute" content to rabid fans in the niche. Membership sites are a lot of work and it would be overkill if all you want to do is sell a few back end products.

You would be much better off, as others have said, with setting up a simple web site, building a list of people interested in your niche, then selling them one product at a time through a normal sales funnel.

      The best to you,

      Steve
