What qualities do you look for in an Affiliate Manager?

Seeing that the Warrior Forum is full of individual marketers, I wanted to hear some feedback from the community on the qualities and expectations of your Affiliate Managers? What shouldn't they do? What can they do better?

      Tom,

I agree with you 100%. These are definitely qualities that are essential to a successful and long lasting relationship. It's funny because working in this industry I have met countless amounts of worthless Affiliate Managers that don't have their Affiliates best interest in mind, which is not beneficial to either party. With that being said I have also met many lazy Affiliates and this is just as common as finding an unproductive Affiliate Manager unfortunately.

I can say working from an Affiliate Manager perspective that the industry's Affiliates, Advertisers and Affiliate Managers work ethic is starting to trend upward. Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of shit to wade through.

          Steve,

I like that you mentioned being a "problem solver". So many individuals that I met interpret this as having all of the answers. In all honesty no-one has all of the answers! Correct me if I am wrong but I take this as simply having a understanding of the industry and if you don't know something then research it, ask questions, basically do what it takes to find a solution to resolve the issue.

We want our affiliate deals to go as smoothly as possible. We want you to oversee the process and just be there to let us know of any concerns. If you want to go above and beyond, you could send specific offers for us to promote that are related to the ones we already use.

      MoneyDan,

Is it safe for me to assume that this should be a unspoken requirement for Affiliate Managers LOL? Affiliate Managers should be making you money, this includes sending you offers that are converting well within the industry that are similar to what you are currently promoting, expressing any concerns (whether it is positive or negative), Staying transparent and working for you; not acting like you work for them. TBH they should be doing a lot of the research, sending you all of the links and creatives that you will need to be successful so all you have to do is start promoting and using your creativity. You can't make money being lazy is my perspective if you are working in this industry. Keep in mind being successful at marketing requires effort and communication from both the Affiliate Manager and the Affiliate.
