Have you listened to Eben Pagan's wake up productive series? That is amazing. Very simple steps yet it makes you very productive and focused. I'll give a short list on some of the things I have taken from it off the top of my head: - Wake up, have half a litre of water because your actually more dehydrated than you are hungry. - Do a little exercise, 30 mins, I personally stretch at the moment and go to the gym about midday. - Grab a really nutritional breakfast. - Now I'm not into meditation but he recommended visualizing for 5 minutes. I do this now as it focuses on your day on what exactly you have to do. - Every time you get lazy/defocused/do a bad habit... stop, drink half a litre of water and start again. - If that doesn't work. Spend 20 minutes only having a power nap. Strictly 20 mins only! It has the effectiveness of having a 3 hours sleep. You feel very awake after and focused. Hope some of this stuff helps. I know it wasn't directly aimed at organization but I believe this can be applied and will help. |

Hey Aljiro, I was and still to some extent deal with organizational/time management. I looked for some software to help also. My computer desktop was out of control, hard drive, mail was in bad shape. Several people told me that software would not fix the problem. That it had to start with me. Well they were right. I had to take ownership of what I created and stop doing the same things that I was doing to create disorganization. While software alone will not do it, I did find two programs that have been extremely valuable in helping me to right the wrongs that I was engaged in. The first one is a free program called Evernote. You can lean more about it here Remember Everything. | Evernote Corporation The second one is Devonthink. Devonthink is only for Mac's, here's the link, DEVONtechnologies Home These two programs have totally changed my on-line and professional life. I'm not an affiliate of either, wish I was though. They don't have an affiliate program. Hope this helps. Z |

Another piece of software you may want to take a look at is Freemind. Do a google search for more info. I've not used this for organizing at this point, but it may help. I do like DevonThink, great software. Z |

I use 2 tools. Remember the Milk ($25/yr for Pro version so I can use the iPhone App) and Get Things Done! - The Action Machine ($27/one time). Here's the workflow: I enter all my tasks into RTM. Everything. Even stupid stuff that clogs up the mind. I tag everything to "home", "office" or project names. I use the iPhone RTM App and this helps tremendously. I also use Dial2Do - Home to "dial in" and "speak" my tasks to RTM when I can't type it in (driving). I then prioritize and organize everything in my inbox. I used to keep lists in RTM...but it sucked because I would jump from one List to the other without a larger view of all tasks. Keeping everything in the Inbox lets me scroll through everything that's due. Plus, the tags let me filter by project if necessary. Essentially, RTM is my "dump" pad. All ideas, todos...everything goes there. This clears the clutter from my brain. Then comes the "action" app...The Action Machine. This is the bridge between "putting stuff on the shelf" and actually "grabbing it and doing it". I use this to take everything off the RTM task list and put it into a "gotta do this today" workspace. It's placed in "importance" order and helps organize time and put you against the clock. Friggin' awesome and simple. It's taken a few years to streamline this...but I've finally arrived with time management. I've never been more productive. |

| I use to-do lists all the time... 2 software programs I always use are: Microsoft Visio - for making flowcharts and plans to help me stay on track... Mindjet Mindmanager (or FreeMind) for organising ideas and brainstorming... Occasionally also use The Action Machine software if I have a number of important tasks to complete in a short time frame... hope this helps. Nick |

Here are a few things I like to do to keep myself organized: 1. Make a to-do list every day... this helps me stay focused and gives me a sense of urgency. 2. Stay on top of your daily stats. Keep a book of daily visits, revenue, costs, etc. Total the results weekly and monthly. When you can see your old results and compare easily it makes it easier to keep your goals in mind. 3. Set long, medium and short term goals. Seriously, write them out. Take your business seriously. 4. Exercise every day and eat regularly - if your blood sugar levels are too high or too low your focus will be off. 5. Take breaks - give your mind a rest once an hour or so. Get up, stretch, walk around, do some jumping jacks, and clear your mind for a second between tasks. 6. Listen to music (if you're the type to listen to music while you work). 7. Work hard, play hard. You'll have time to play after work if you keep trucking when you're in the office. So stay on task when you're working and then have your fun. 8. Come up with a punishment/reward system. Train yourself like a dog! ![]() Personally, I like to write everything down so I have a hard copy record of it, plus it seems a little quicker to me. That's just me though! Hope this helps! Connor |
