New website - need help and advice

Hey guys,

I currently have a new website that is about giving updates on sports such as NBA and I am currently writing content and keeping it fresh every day. I have social media account that is growing and i'm continuously getting new pages indexed by google although i'm looking for more ways to generate regular traffic any thoughts?

I'm still trying to rank better in google, and although early i keep reading different articles and posts on how to increase traffic but keep going round and round without implementing anything.

Any ideas on what i should focus on to increase traffic and what method?

I'm really passionate about this website and keen to get it out there, it currently get only about 50-70 pageviews a day.

I just feel like im doing something wrong or missing something..

    I have a basketball blog myself, although I haven't updated it in awhile. I'm a huge Celtics fan and signed up for an account on SBNation.com and started leaving comments and participating in the forums, which helped bring in some traffic to my blog. I would also reach out to other sports bloggers and see if you could contribute a guest post.

    What social media are you using to promote your site? You might also consider setting up a Pinterest account too. If you have alot of pictures on your site, you could pin those to Pinterest boards. Here's an example of my board.

    Initially it will get 50-60 pageviews and when it will rank well then its page views will also increase. have patience!!!

      I will definately get active on some forums! Should i be searching for some back links, any SEO suggestions?

      In terms of Google ranking my website better, after logging it in webmasters how long should i wait for Google to change my rankings a few months?

    In order to promote your website, the key thing is to keep updating with fresh content which you are already doing. That will take care of organic search. Participating in forums is also a good option.

    you've only just started the site and are getting 70 UV's a day? You are doing well, keep finding more keywords and writing articles around them!

    It takes time for google to rank you properly, don't be discouraged, if you are getting 70 views a day now you are doing something right!

    use other forums on the topic you have website and leave comments on the other blogs in NBA and you can create videos about NBA and post link to your website...its much easier to rank video because there is not much competition like with websites and than you can send traffic from video to website you own

    You could always advertise for traffic. You can create your own free ebook on basketball tips and allow people to download and distribute it on the net for you. Don't overlook Youtube also. If possible (don't understand the laws on this).... you could create highlight videos on Youtube, and link back to your basketball blog. It's easier than it sounds. You can do it. Try to make 1 video per day.
