Hi Warrior Forum,

New member here for the same reason, I'm sure, as any other new member: I want to slowly but surely attempt to earn a steady stream of income through the internet!

Now I've read every "beginner's guide" and "10 things every beginner should know" I could get my hands on for the past two weeks on e-commerce and came up with one important and at the same time blatantly obvious conclusion:

Market Research is KEY!!

Now here's my plea of help for all you experienced warriors out there: How did you all learn how to research the market your business is in? Any tips or words of advice for a newbie embarking on the daunting journey of market research himself??

Thoughts/comments/remarks?? (No matter how cold and blunt they may be!)

Are you planning on selling informational or physical products firstly? You mentioned ecomm which generally refers to physical goods. The market research tools and resources would be a bit different depending on your answer.

Hmm... I was leaning towards physical products. Should have made that clear haha

Market research isn't all that hard. Take this forum for example. Go to the WSO section and scroll through all the offers. The ones that have a lot of views and comments and have been up for a few months or more are successful.

Once you have that info you notice what these people are selling. Chances are it's info that promises quick money for little work. It's no secret here that the main buyers for most of this type of stuff are between the ages of 18 and 35. They don't like to read (can you say video?), and they don't want to spend a lot of time setting things up.

That's why you see so many offers claiming their system is "done for you" and easy to put on "autopilot." People here tend to believe there are secrets to making big money. That's why so many people are selling secrets.

Other markets are pretty easy to gauge too. Do a search for the most popular stuff selling on eBay and then check out the successful sellers that are offering that stuff. Then look at the other items they're selling. You can also learn a lot about what's selling by looking at the most popular books on Amazon.

Another way to find out what's selling is do a simple search on Google or Bing or any of the other biggies. How many ads are showing up? Lots of ads mean lots of sales, usually.

Don't make things harder than they are.

Research is a great place to start but you need to figure out what you want to do to make you online success. First thing is no one knows who you are so why would they buy from you - Online Presence

Start a YouTube channel. Talk about what you want to accomplish online and really let them know why this should be following you.

When you connect with your viewers, selling will sell itself.

    Travlinguy pretty much nailed it.

Find a market that you are passionate about.

Find where they hang out and what they buy.

    Look on clickbank or amazon.

Ironically, the For Dummies books have been a great resource for me because big publishers don't invest big $$ into publishing books if there isn't a market for the topic.

First of all, I looked inward to see what knowledge and passion I had on certain topics/niches.

    Then I went from there.

Going to places like Clickbank and getting ideas there helped a lot.

Also, following the everyday news can really give you valuable insight to what is hot and what is not.
