Default Totally Confused With the Rights of PLR Products

Hello,
I have a few PLR products which specify that I can sell the products, but cannot give them away for free. But there is no mention if I can edit the product. Some products say "May Edit/Alter Sales Materials" and some say "May Edit/Alter Sales Materials (text only)'.
Now does edit/alter sales materials mean I can selectively copy and use the materials in the ebook according to my wish?

If it comes with a source file like a .doc file, then you are allowed to edit it. PLR means you can edit the product itself.

As for the sales page, if it says you can only edit the text, that means you cannot edit the ecover or any images that come with it.

Now, PLR means you can edit it! If it doesn't come with a .doc file, the author is just dumb!

The rights for these products can be totally confusing. There's no "standard" so you have to look at the license very carefully, even then, as you have found out, something might not be specified.

Usually I err on the side of caution, meaning if it isn't specified as to what I can do then I don't do anything.

PLR usually means that you can edit them, but a lot of people confuse resale rights with PLR (or think that all resale rights products include PLR when they don't). I've come across a lot of stuff with resale rights that you weren't allowed to edit. Sometimes you can edit the sales page and not the ebook and sometimes you can edit the ebook and not the sales page!

I think "edit/alter sales materials" refers to the sales letter only and not the ebook itself. At least that's what I've always taken it to mean.

Thank you guys. So just so that I understand, PLR means that you can edit stuff whichever you want, right?

If it's sold as being able to claim copyright, you can do whatever you want to it.
