Website and E-Book - Novice

Hello everyone,

I am 35 but very much a novice to the IM stuff so yes another novice looking to break into the market.

Having done quite a bit of research on the net I find that a website is almost a certainty in making this work is that correct ?

Also I have a copy of dreamweaver which I know can do the job but it is only as good as the operator as well.

Any hints on how to write or get an e-book in order to sell as it is an appealing concept to me.

The only other concept I really like the look of is a membership site.

Any advice and help will be gratefully received.

Best wishes too everyone.

Pete

Hi there, I'm quite new myself, a website is useful although there are ways of promoting other people's products (affiliate products) by researching the keywords people will be using to find information on the area you choose, then writing articles with a link to the product in the signature box at the bottom and submitting them to article directories.

Most folks build websites using Wordpress on a hosted site. I have some Wordpress sites, it's really easy to build quite professional looking sites.

Clickbank (Digital Products Retailer: Affiliate Program & Sell Online - ClickBank) have loads of products/ ebooks on a variety of niches you can promote at no cost to you- you ned to make sure that people are actually looking to buy products in that niche.

Spend time browsing through this forum and choose one or two business models you like the look of, try not to get distracted by all the different information or become overloaded with information!

    Best of luck!

    Thanks Stepho

Thats a great answer and still working on blogs at the moment and kinda thinking that will be sufficient for starters.

I hear alot about wordpress so maybe something I should really look into getting/downloading.

Didn't realise clickbank done e-books so some great food for thought there.

Thanks again also for the quick reply.

    Best wishes and luck always

ok Pm me i have an easy way for you to get past all the initial drek.
if you do a membership site you would need to populate it with content and that takes time. unless you do russell brunsons micro thing, that is designed to be a smaller membership site.

if you do not cut your target / system / method of working down to a single tightly worked system you are likely to flounder and lose motivation.
you must stick with a method and then work it harder that everybody else.

    good luck.

Congratulations, Pete! You're in for a fun ride. Read all you can here at the WF and get yourself a good guide.

You need a presence on the web, what that is can take several forms. There are free options that can be effective, but nothing beats having your own domain and unique website. I don't use Dreamweaver, but know that a lot of people use it. I'd suggest going to Google and searching for "Dreamweaver tutorials".

What do you know how to do? What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? These will help you with the first step of product creation: choosing a topic.

You will also need to do some market research to make sure there will be buyers for your ebook.

Writing an ebook can seem a daunting task to some, but break it down into small steps (being sure to move forward every day) and it will be done before you know it.

I run a membership forum and can tell you that it takes some real work, but other membership models may run in more of an autopilot mode. However, I enjoy running the site and try to do well by each and every one of my members.

Any advice and help will be gratefully received.

    Best wishes too everyone.

    Keep learning.

Take an action in the right direction right now. Don't wait. No site or product is ever perfect. Ever. Do your best, and make improvements as needed.

    All the best,
    Michael

    Micheal,

Wow thanks for the consise answer too the questions and the aim as you said is to move forward daily and make improvements along the way.

A long road but should be fun, annoying, educational and (hopfully) ultimately rewarding.

    All the very best

Well I'm also an "Aged Brit" Whatever you do, write about something you are interested, If yu write about things that you don't care about or have a dedicated interest in, this is portrayed in the words you type. There is a market for everything so choose your niche and write from the heart.
