How Do You Explain What Is Affiliate Marketing?

I talk about Amazon first, specifically, as an example. I think this usually makes it easier for people to understand, because everyone's heard of Amazon and that makes the whole subject "approachable" to them rather than "alien".

Then my next example is usually "private jet hire", which helps people to understand that there can be real money in it.

(And if I mention ClickBank at all as an example, I start by explaining that it's a multi-Billion dollar turnover company which has been trading for longer than Google, even though most people have never heard of it. Once you've explained the underlying principles, via Amazon and private jet hire, people can then generally understand it pretty easily.)

Hi, i prefer to keep things simple: i'd just say: "i sell other people's products" and they'll understand!

You're an independent marketer, that's responsible for delivering traffic to websites. Use Amazon as an example, since almost everyone with kids is accustomed to shopping through their kids school/girl scout/basketball team etc link.

Affiliate marketing is an online business model where you can earn a commission for selling someone else’s products. You do not own the product or the service you are promoting but you do receive a piece of the pie for every paying customer you send to the Site through your referral Link.

For example;

When you are interested in buying a new home, who shows you around?
A real estate agent.
But that real estate agent does not actually own the property, instead he or she is just trying to help sell it and then earn their commission for doing so.

For newbies who want to make money online, in my opinion affiliate marketing could be a good place to start. You don’t have to create, produce, store or ship the actual products you are selling, it’s minimal investment, with a high potential for income.

Affiliate Marketing is working as a commission-only salesperson for products and services. People are only paid when they perform. Every company is willing to hire anyone willing to work for them for free, willing to sell for them and make them money (as long as you don't lie or misrepresent what is being offered for sale).

Drop shipping is the same thing. You sell products for other people and are paid a portion of the sale amount. The difference is that drop shippers sell and affiliate marketers pre-sell. (Drop shippers collect their commissions in a different manner.)

Lead generation is the same thing. You find people interested in buying products and services from a company. For this, you are paid in one of two ways, either for the lead itself (at a lower price) or, if they follow through and complete the sale, you are paid a commission (and sometimes both). With lead generation, you do not sell or pre-sell, the company takes that responsibility.

This is the easiest way:

You have a product. You have the end customer and you have the owner of the product. If you want to make money online, you will want to be in the middle and earn commissions through selling it to the customer. You become the middleman or middlewoman.

I say " I recommend services in return for a percentage of the sales " , seems to work. Although I usually just tell people i'm a web designer to avoid the 20 questions game where they won't understand the answers even if you tell them

it's just commission sales online via web pages and email instead of face to face.

Affiliate marketing is learning how to sell other peoples products or services online and getting paid a commission.

Okay, so by now you have a pretty good idea of how to explain what affiliate marketing is.
So tell your spouse/sibling/parent/significant other to stop bugging you! ;-)

I'll say, I make money by referring good products to people who need them. When they buy, I get paid.
