Pinterest No Longer Allowing Affiliate Links

I just found out about this turn of events. Hardly surprised. Is Twitter still one of the last bastions of direct affiliate linking?

        For me, that's the better way to do it anyway. I prefer to train users to come to my website and have a chance at capturing their email addresses or getting them to sign up for updates on my social media pages rather than just sending people directly to someone else's website. No doubt I lose a few short term sales, but I care more about having a long-term and loyal base of repeat customers than making a few extra bucks on the front end.

    This actually increased the value of Pinterest to its users. Good move on their part. This pushes promoters to link to posts on their sites. Not surprisingly, this development can increase the income of some promoters by PUSHING them to do a better job CONVERTING their visitors through content.

    BY THE WAY, this is precisely why I suggest people BUILD A LIST. Instead of linking directly to an affiliate product sales page, link to a squeeze page that redirects to a sales page. Collect those emails and you'd have an asset that SURVIVES your traffic sources.
