YouTube AdSense Profits Vs. Text Article AdSense Profits

I know it's impossible to say how much you can make on YouTube with AdSense, as it varies from niche to niche.

But has anyone ever done a comparative test in the same niche, comparing what YouTube videos and more traditional text Web pages make when essentially publishing the same information?

In other words, let's say I made X dollars per 1000 visitors from writing an article on gaming. Now, if I make a video of the same content and put it on YouTube, what percentage of X would I make per 1000 with the YouTube video. I've heard it's way, way less than regular web pages in some cases. I've never read that it's more. Discuss your experience if you can, please.

  • If your talking about using the youtube partnership program to make money with adsense then go to YTcalc (0.1 beta) - How much money YouTube Partners make to find out how much you can make but from what I can tell with the youtube partnership program is if you get 1000 views for your video you will make a max of $2.50 if that so you will have to create a lot of video's

Plus there are a lot of article video's out there and they do eventually get flagged for spam not at once but over the course of time and after you continually upload article video's one of them will get flagged and your account will be closed so you should try and create a video which isn't just a word by word article video but add something interesting like animation, or talk about the article written in a web cam and give your view of the article and so on.

However if your determined to create the same generic article video then I would suggest you create more than one youtube account that way if one of them get's banned you have other accounts you can use but I'd advice against this as it can be seen as spam.

Its an interesting question and I don't have a real answer for you but I have found in the niches I was looking at that the actual income for the articles vs youtube was not much different in total income BUT if we count a view on youtube compared to a Unique Visitor to our articles then I found the articles paid a lot more per visitor.

    Does that help ?

I would imagine videos are a lot lower per 1000 impressions. With text, you can do testing to optimize your ctr and cpc and increase your RPM (revenue per 1000 impressions) and be able to get a pretty good
RPM > $10 for a lot of niches.

With video, I think it's just a lower RPM overall unless you become a big publisher. I haven't done anything with video so I can't say from my own experience but I haven't heard anybody state they got over $5 per 1000 views.

It takes a monster amount of views for youtube to be worth it, but if you can build an audience and can create endless content, it can be very lucrative.
