How To Find Blogs With Google

Hi,

After a recent comment on another thread I got several requests via PM asking how to find blogs and sites that you can post links on.

So here's the basics. Google has certain operators that make for a more advanced search. For instance I can search for .edu sites that have the word "Blog" in the title by using this command:

Code:
inurl:edu intitle:blog
or you could use this string to find the actual pages that want you to post a comment:
Code:
inurl:edu intitle:blog intext:post a comment
I'm not so fussed about .edu domains. So I would look for blogs related to my niche. For instance in the diet niche I could use

Code:
diet intext:post a comment
That should give you the basics. A list of search operators can be found here:

Google Search Operators - Google Guide

Just play around with stuff in different combinations and its easy to find hundreds of sites a day that allow you to post a link.

Get this firefox plugin and it will tell you if its dofollow or not.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5687

Although on nofollow blogs i enter the html in my comment like <a href="http://thisismysite.com">this is my keyword</A> and the search engines seem to count it as a link.

To stop it getting removed I put the comment like:

Hi,

Great post. Blah blah blah I did something exactly like that once.

Speak Soon

John Doe
"John Doe's Widgets"
<a href="http://thisismysite.com">this is my keyword</A>

Hope thats food for thought. Play around with different combinations and you should be good. Or you could hire someone for $4 an hour from odesk to do this for you.

no reason not to. This search technique can be used to find all sorts of sites that allow user submitted content. I received a few PM's asking how I did it so I thought it easier to make a thread.

One of the time consuming things about backlinking is finding all of the blogs that don't allow comments. The "post a comment" idea above could help that problem.

Think that inurl:edu should be site:edu - inurl will search the entire url, while site will only match the domain.
