How do you fill your list?

Hello,

Just wondering. Since your average squeeze page is not exceptionally full of content, SEO organic traffic is often out of the question. What method do you use to get a horde of people to your squeeze page? Do you use PPC? If so, do you advertise on google? Or do you advertise on adware networks?

You seem to assume I haven't read anything so far? I'm asking people what works for them *now*, as I'm interested in learnign *new* stuff, not *old* stuff. Is it really hard to engage in a discussion instead of pointing people the other way? I'm sure most of whats being discussed on these forums has already been discussed before, but hey... Sometimes people just don't care about fishing up the old stuff and want to discuss fresh, new insights.

Frankly, I never understood these "UTFS" posts. They're unfriendly, add no value whatsoever and seriously only serve to bolster the poster's ego.

        Johnnie,

        IMO You have two options:

1 - Don't open a thread asking and just wait for the "fresh" info to pop up.
2 - Use search option and get what you need.

I am a recent member here, but i can tell you this: when people sign in and just want the "fresh" info (what fresh info??) and don't remember how this community can help them for years to come, usually they go out as quickly as they came.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Invent new stuff, that's the only way... Or if someone invents something, if he wants it, he will post it in the thread he creates not here... Learn the basics.. old stuff works!

    Johnnie,

There are a ton of resources to learn the "old" stuff and some of it still works.

As for new stuff, I am biased, but nothing works better than running a sweepstakes promotion. It is tried and true for decades and the internet is a perfect forum for it. Not only does it build a list more quickly than any other, but the list will be more detailed and accurate because people love to win stuff and will provide any information needed to be eligible.

You can use the old approach of offering a free ebook or subscription to your newsletter or you can do something really exciting that drives people to your site and gets them to respond. And if done right, it is extremely viral.

Here is the thing. The old stuff can work but everyone is running into the same pile. At some point, saturation and boredom has to set in. How many articles or google ads can a niche support?

But that being said, if you do the old stuff and inject something new into the equation, then you stand out above the rest.

All you need to search for are traffic generation techniques. I understand the mentality of opening a new thread to possibly gain some new insights, but the methods are usually already out there. They come in the form of threads like this, but with the OP discussing the new method, not asking about them.

Personally, use forum signatures, which is targeted. Use adwords if you know what you're doing and have the capital up front. Use articles, twitter, blog comments, social groups.

That should get you started. Seriously though, search for traffic generation techniques and you will have *plenty* to work on, if you're not sure of there current effectiveness, ask.

    Hope that helps.

I don't understand why people are opposed to starting a discussion about new ideas. Many of us know 99% of the common approaches out there and frankly, I'm a little bored by it all. Let's hear some originality. Is that threatening or uncomfortable?
