Leaving H-G: Looking for Panel on VPS host .

Hey Warriors!

it's time I left Hostgator so I decided to get my sites on a VPS host.

I checked some companies and then realized I won't have
an efficient cPanel ready for me on a VPS host. . .

I should set up a panel before moving all my sites (oh my God !!!)

As I'm tech minus zero I'd like to know your experiences
with these panels on a VPS host:

kloxo
zpanel
vesta panel
Sentora
Parallels Plesk 12
CentOSWebPanel

cPanel ($20 month license)

    Thank you for leaving HostGator....

    Anywho...many of the panels are quite similar - depends on what you "need" in a panel.

    Figure out what you "need" - then see if that particular panel has it.

    If all else fails - fork over the extra money for cPanel - surely, $20/mo isn't worth the headache of not having what you "need"

    Second that one, Cpanel is nice but its not a huge deal, (the most important thing to know is IF) your MySQL server uses a separate IP address, if it does, like ip.mysql then stay far away, it will wreck your world.

    find a panel that matches your server configuration, its a lot more complicated than just saying those words, but I would have a look at Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet

    You would most likely want a manged VPS - which in most cases includes a cPanel license built into the cost of the server.

    zPanel - stay far away from this. It's been exploited multiple times over the past few years and the project has been abandoned.

    Do you need a VPS? For a managed VPS with cPanel, management, support, backups etc, you're looking in the range of $40/mo or more - at least with a competent company that knows what they're doing.

        No worries - I would certainly look at using a better shared/reseller host first before going into a VPS. You might find a better maintained host is fine with shared/reseller hosting & the VPS isn't needed.

    I run a VPS with cPanel and love it.. It's worth the $20/mo license fee. Otherwise, I'd recommend Parallels or Vesta Panel. Just remember, your VPS needs at least 1GB of RAM or run cPanel. Can't use cPanel on a VPS with only 512MB.

    I too tried Hostgrator once and the same result as you found with me also.Then I moved with GoDaddy and again the same result.I started to think that it is my website's fault but then I went with Private VPS hosting which was wonderful to my website.

      I'd draw your attention to VPS deals from A2hosting.com and Qhoster.com.
      They have solid servers and their uptime is high.
      Support is active around the clock.
      They are worth every cent you pay for their services.

    Since you have no technical experience, I recommend you get a VPS with cpanel, and fully managed to save you the trouble.
    Many providers these days offer free cpanel with managed VPS.

    I would go for a VPS with cPanel, it's easy to manage and doesn't require a whole lot of knowledge from your part. As far as webhost companies go, do a quick search for reviews, you'll definitely find detailed opinions from satisfied or (most importantly) unsatisfied users.
