I Need Redirection Help

I have an affiliate site branded with my name that I want to send traffic to. The problem is the domain name is pretty ugly.
I recently purchased a nice looking domain name I would like to use to promote the affiliate site.
I have set up the redirect using NameCheap. When I hit my nice looking domain name I notice that the redirect is being done using a 302 redirect. Is this ok?
I am going to be using my nice looking purchased domain name for all my linking and want to be sure that this is the name that shows up when my site is indexed. I also want to be sure I am getting PR and backlinks to the nice looking domain name as well.
What type of redirect is best for this situation....301 or 302? I'm confused.
Also my Google Analytics code is on the branded affiliate page. Will either redirect cause any issues with the analytics?
