Advice needed on traffic

Hi

First of all, thank you for clicking on my thread, I really appreciate it!

I'm looking for other ways on how I can possibly generate traffic towards my site (Home - Business Junkee). Currently, I do the following:

- Facebook page marketing
- Twitter account
- Instagram account
- Paid advertising through Outbrain

My wordpress site does have a Yoast plugin which lets me also know how my seo ranks with each blog post I put up.

What other methods am I possibly missing to draw more traffic?

Many thanks.
Khabeer

Visit sites like Fiverr or SEOClerks and buy a few small link pyramid packages. Get some different backlinks coming into your site by purchasing Web 2.0 link pyramids, press releases, good article submissions..etc. You could do all of that manually, but you can also buy it fairly cheap on those marketplaces.

You didn't mention YouTube which is an excellent source of traffic especially with the amount of people that use YouTube as a "search engine" nowadays...

As far as i know, we should stay away from Craiglist - most networks would penalize you for craiglist traffic.

....correct me if im wrong though...

One of the best option is to setup a plan and be consistent. All the mentioned strategies are great advice, but if you move from one to another without a plan you risk to not get any result.
Strat with 2 or 3 strategy, write down a weekly plan an every day dedicate 2 or 3 hours working on the strategies.
After 3 / 4 weeks you will see results, so you can decide wich to keep and which to stop.
From there you can add new strategies.

There are endless ways to generate traffic, but my question for you, how's the traffic sources you're using now, are you getting sufficent traffic from them? I know there are a few websites that depend ONLY on ONE social media network, like pinterest.

If you're on pinterest, try to follow people who pin/or like other boards that are in your niche. Maybe you're using this tip, but it's a great way to get "targetted" followers!

Pretty much all the standard ways to generate traffic have been summed up - but the key is to create an Action Plan and to track the results - increase the work from high traffic sources. A little spreadsheet can go a long way towards keeping focus. Nice site btw!

An excellent way to market your website or blog is with pay per click marketing on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google, and Yahoo. If you choose any of them, you will get a good return on your investment. The key is to get started and start small to test the waters. You can start with each one and start with $5 per day for each.

    Hi,

    To be honest with you......

You're probably trying too many traffic sources all at the same time.

YOU MUST master 1 traffic source.

And be prepared to LOSE until you hit the spot that allows to reach a level
of understanding so you know how to make a profit from that traffic source every
    time you use it.

THEN and only then can you look at adding in another traffic source
to help supplement your current one.

I'd just rather be honest with you rather than add more sources and confuse
    you even more.

    Gavin.

I always enjoy these threads - being a traffic addict - but they tend always, in my opinion at least, to actually present a possible hinderence to our newer members. Tell you what I mean. The probable reaction of most newcomers to a plethora of traffic options is either to get overwhelmed or to try and tackle multiple systems at the one time. What I'd suggest, to any new folks bored enough to read this ramble, is concentrate on the one system, get it working, then move on to the next.

So, for instance, you could grow an GB page to 100K, say. At that point, the little suckers pretty much grow themselves, and you can then move on to FB groups, possibly, or leave FB altogether and grow passive traffic from YT, Dailymotion, etc.

    Just some thoughts!

Reddit could be a great place to get free traffic to your site, but you have to be careful and abide by all the rules, as they are very strict.

If I may say so Khabeer...just driving traffic is useless, unless you're selling ad packages for a flat rate to dumb companies who are impressed with numbers. Even if your using Outbrain, Google, etc to show ads on the site...if you attract people who aren't really interested in your topic, the likelihood that they'll click a link on your site is small.

Plus, you'll constantly be trying to attract more people, because you won't get people coming back because they like your content. In other words...you'll never grow a solid reader base.

Take TheBlaze.com for example. Sure they are trying to get more readers, but they know their market and work very hard to attract their market, so even if they don't advertise a certain number f people are going to show up and read the site everyday. That kind of solid readership is going to make it a much more stable business.

So the question to ask is: Who do you want on the site? How can you get them to the site? Where do they hang out online? What do they want to see? (Note, they might not always want to see the most obvious stuff. Sometimes entrepreneurs don't care what Branson is saying. Sometimes they want to laugh. What is their sense of humor, etc)

Once you have those questions answered, you have a much better base to use when it comes to getting traffic that matters rather than wasting your time getting loads of useless traffic.

It also makes getting the traffic easier. You have somewhere and someone to focus your efforts on.

    Hope that helps some.

I'm going to second the Fiverr option. I have hired close to 20 people from Fiverr over the past 6 months, and have been consistently impressed with their work. They work really well for something like SEO, or link pyramids.

I'm a little weary about Fiverr in regards to SEO, as I don't know whether they will be doing anything dodgy and end up getting me blocked by Google.

Can anyone shed any light on this, and if you have used SEO services on Fiverr is there anyone you recommend?

      Hi KR,
Forgive me if I am wrong but how are you able to use celebrities pics and information on your commercial blog without getting sued? Unless permission is given I thought some people have gotten sued for that, and not sure how good of a business model it would be if that is the case.
Again please correct my ignorance if I am mistaken.
I remember one time I was going to use a link to a book on one of my sites and the author and I discussed it. And he decided against. I know he had attorney's language on his site about using any of it unauthorized. Most sites also have terms of use policy that prohibit re-use of any of the content without authorization.
I see Tony Robbins, Richard Branson and others
Am I mistaken? I know a fair use clause applies to a limited usage as I understand it.
      Thanks
      John Krone

    Great suggestions already here, Khabeer.

As a full time content marketer I can tell you that consistency and good writing are your best friends. I wrote an article back in 2012 that has stayed at #1 in G for a very competitive keyword for a while, and it's because I keep adding content and sharing consistently across social media platforms, including G+ and YouTube.

Paid traffic is awesome, but for the long term and for blogging content and consistency wins every time.

Most traffic methods listed above works.

You should focus on one, get good at it and generate results before moving on to the next.

Video marketing is one of the popular ones

    Here're a few tips:

    1) Keep it short and sweet

If you have lots of valuable to give away, break your video into 4-5 minutes smaller ones (ie: Part One, Part Two and so forth). Upload Part One on youtube or other video sharing sites, then insert a link to encourage your readers to visit your blog for Part Two.

    2) Select the RIGHT keywords

Before you submit your videos to youtube and other video sharing sites, research some hot long tail keywords and insert those into title and description.

    3) Be clear of your objectives

Don't give your readers too much options.

Whether you want your visitors to visit your blog, sign up as subscribers or buying your products, you should base your entire videos around your objectives.

    4) Strong call to action

Always insert a call to actio in your video. If you want to drive traffic to your blog, here's an example: "Thank you for watching, if you like my video, visit my blog for Part Two - Better hurry before I turn it into a paid product..."

    Other traffic methods includes:
    • Blogging
    • Guest Blogging
    • Forum Marketing
    • Free Reports/eBooks
    • Master Resell Rights Products
    • Hubpages
    • eBay
    • Lulu
    • and so forth

Focus on one strategy until you see results, then move on to the next.

    Hope it helps
