Resources for writing articles?

Was wondering what are some good resources for learning the art of writing good articles. Maybe I am over thinking this.... lol

    Hi M,

    Problogger.net is a fine resource for writing.

    Jeff Goins runs a solid blogging blog.

    Some guy who Blogs from Paradise - and talks about himself and his zany travel stories, and relates them to blogging - may also be able to help you write articles.

    Also, writing, at least 500 to 1000 words daily will improve your writing skills.

    Figure out why you're writing, tie the reason to some freeing driver and you can't help but to really rock it out with your articles. One note though; I'd buy domain and hosting to go with a self hosted Wordpress blog. Brand you, be forward thinking and grow your online business from a professional space.

    I think you are probably overthinking it, I found that the more effort I put into learning how to write articles - the less positive the feedback on the articles I was writing was and when I went back into just writing my articles in a natural way - the more people liked them!

    If you really need some help with your writing Sophie Lizards Be a Freelance Blogger website is pretty good, it's mainly focused on the business of freelance blogging but also has some good resources on writing itself especially on the forum.

      But, to the OP, yes, Tom (GRM) is spot on, search out Alexa's posts. Also, do a good bit of reading from some of the senior warriors here. Study their style of writing.

    Write on one day, review on the following day. An old tip that works for me.

    We use two different parts of the brain : one when we create, another when we critically edit.

      I use a very similar technique when writing novels or screenplays; I just wait a little longer before review. I'll pump out the first draft and then throw it in a drawer for 2 or 3 months. When you return to the work, it's like reading someone else's work. Much easier, then, to critique.

    how I write an article about a topic i previously was uneducated about

    1. Download simple highlighter plugin for chrome
    2. Open wikipedia article on your topic.
    3. Read it in full
    4. Skim back over and "highlight" the key points
    5. Find 2 or 3 articles on the same topic
    6. Read & highlight relevant points
    7. Understand what i've read
    8. Write article based on your wikepdia highlights and 2 other articles.
    9. Never plagiarise, theres a difference between basing off another article, and straight out copying them

    This works, and you should feel good for learning a new topic in full also!

    I always got a lot of use from going to Ezine Articles and looking up some highly reputable Authors and just reading some of their Articles.

    Just write bunch of articles everyday, if you are native English speaker all you need to do is write. English is not my first language but few months ago I needed some articles and at first it was a bit difficult but after I wrote like 20k+ words my writings skills REALLY improved, it all comes down to practice.

    I agree with the previous suggestions of (1) practicing writing daily and (2) using your own voice. Don't feel compelled to change your voice, or invent a new one, just because it seems to be more proper or acceptable.

    You convey your passion most effectively in your natural voice. Practice writing in that voice, and you'll more easily overcome writer's block and engage your readers more deeply.

    heheheh... Your not over-thinking this. It happens to the best of us.. :-) best tip for you. Just look at all of the awesome content already for inspiration. And just write. Don't think about it. Just do it. And proofread and spell check after you have written your base article. It's the way I learn anyway...
