Affiliate Marketing Business Models - Looking To Brainstorm Ideas

Hi there,
I'm Jordan Daniels and I'm currently in the process of creating an affiliate marketing business. According to my plan, I should have my website launch in about a month. I'm extremely excited (and nervous) about it.

I visit Warrior Forum daily. Reading the threads here usually trigger ideas for me, and I learn so much from here. I'd like to thank you all for that.

At this current moment, I want to learn about different affiliate business models. I've googled different keywords looking for a variety of affiliate business models and what I've gotten out of it so far is four models:

Model 1: Blogging

Model 2: Coupons

Model 3: Product Review

Model 4: Aggregation

If their are more affiliate business models out there, please share. It'll be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Don't forget to capture email leads from your blog ... Trust me you will thank me later for starting a list asap.

Find a niche where money is already exchanging hands and preferabely a niche that you have an interest in

It will be easier and more enjoyable for you to work on your business if your actually enjoying what you are doing.

Good luck with your new business.

How do you have a plan and a launch date without a business model?

Anyway, the number of business models with affiliate marketing aren't endless, but they're pretty close. Take for instance Good Reads which created a social network around books and monetized it primarily through affiliate marketing (largely as an Amazon affiliate). Or Kayak.com, which most people don't think of as an affiliate-based business, but most of their revenue comes through fees they get from airlines after customers purchase airfare they find on that site. My company is part media company/part e-commerce and most of our revenue is also affiliate based.

This isn't to say that the four business models you mentioned are bad ones, but I find the best models are the one's that blend the entrepreneur's skills, talents and passion creatively to meet customers' demands rather than just copying what everyone else is doing.

  • Jordan,

STRATEGIC AFFILIATE B2B (Business to Business) PARTNERSHIPS -- Provide value to established companies with existing customers and efficient traffic generation campaigns. For example:

    • Set up a team of email support agents, or live chat support agents, or telesales and tech support agents, or a combination of these teams. Then:

    • Contact companies and negotiate mutually beneficial performance-based contracts where they drive inbound traffic to your teams, in order for you to provide pre / post sales and tech support services to their customers and upsell their premium products and services and renewals to their subscription products and services, in order for you to earn lucrative commissions for each upsale and renewal that your team generates from the inbound traffic that they send your way...

Yes, this takes more work than setting up a site and promoting affiliate products through email marketing by driving traffic via paid advertising, video marketing, social media marketing, content syndication, content aggregation, SEO and so on ...

    BUT ...

=>> This can also produce far better returns when done right...

Thank you all for the responses and my apologies Kilgore, I do have a business model, plan, sales funnel, products, and everything else completed for the startup process of an affiliate marketing business.
Just like you said, the best business models blend the skills, talents, and passions of the entrepreneur to meet the customers' demands. I'm trying to learn as much as possible and accumulate as many ideas so I can possibly expand my business, or start another business in the near future.
I know that first I have to learn the ins and outs of my first business model, which is 'blogging', and to build a list and gain trust by giving my customers more than what they demand so that they'll be more than satisfied.
Also, thanks for sharing other business models. I actually have purchased books from Good Reads in the past and never really realized that it was an affiliate marketing business. That's awesome. I'll also check out the Kayak website also.

Marx Vergel, that sounds terrific. Wow! You have expanded my knowledge of business with just that post, and I'm eager to learn more! I'm going to send you a pm sometime soon if that's not a problem.

Thanks everyone. This is why I love visiting Warrior Forum on a daily basis. For those of you who have found success in earning even just a little bit of income from affiliate marketing, can you share some important tips for a beginner that's getting ready to launch their business?
It'll be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Happy to help. No problem -- Would be glad to collaborate and bounce ideas. Cheers!

Creating your own products in the niche while becoming an affiliate at the same time.

You get the best of both worlds, so to speak.

Hey James, I'm currently creating an eCourse that will specifically be my lead magnet. It will be FREE also, with lots of tips, strategies, and the ins and outs of various elements in my niche. Thanks for your input! Very much appreciated.

    Hey Jordan,

Quality product review sites are always a good place to start if you have a site already.

Find products that have great customer feedback, contact product owners for possible review copies in return for driving traffic to their offers via your review.

I'm doing similar things if you want to visit my main site to see

  • I say the most basic, and most effective one is..

    List-Building

You build a huge list in a niche, and promote affiliate offers with email marketing.

This is how most people make money with affiliate marketing..

    It requires:
    > A one-page website (Optin page)
    > A email service (GetResponse, Aweber)
    > Affiliate Offers To Promote
    > Traffic (LOTS of TRAFFIC)

    Hope this helps

You should choose an affiliate marketing model that allows you to STILL earn money on a customer/transaction... as long as they're in the membership or program. Examples:

    - Offline monthly newsletters
    - Membership sites
    - Webhosting
    - Google Adsense

If you can't get your hands on the customer after they buy from your affiliate link, how will you receive residual income from these people? If you can't, then the next logical step is to create your own products, or.... sell a $500+ commissioned-rate affiliate product.
