How To Get Paid Courses Free Without Being A Black Hat Pirate

Recently, I saw a paid for course that purported to show people how to get paid Udemy courses for free.

My first thought, I was like "WTF? People will pay for this?"

Why not just do a Google search?

Is it really that hard for folks to fathom that they could simply search for this stuff?

Although I did not buy this person's course, I figured I'd share my methods I've used but not charge folks here for it....

The basic premise is to do try the following:

1. Google search for "Udemy [or whatever the platform] coupon..."

Notice that if you're auto suggestion tool is turned on that there will be a number of suggestions that come up.

Note: the first rabbit hole that leads to other solutions which I'll recommend below should show you a facebook group.

Which leads to my next method

2. Search out facebook groups and pages for "udemy [or whatever the platform] coupons"

Again...note the results...join those groups, like those pages.

3. Repeat the above on Linkedin

4. Repeat the above on Google+

5. Do twitter searches for Udemy free coupons, etc.

6. Setup Google Alerts for the same thing.

There are more things you can do, however, this will typically keep you busy enough with free coupons for mondo expensive courses that you'll be busy learning for the next 50 years.

I hope this helps you, and by the way, in case you're unaware, I've also taught you a very special lesson regarding paid Udemy courses that you might not have known....

See if you can guess what the meta lesson is here by leaving a comment below.

Also, was this helpful, yes or no?

Regards

Los

if something interests you and you feel it's worth your time and investment, then go ahead and support the creator for taking the time to create the darn thing!

What's the worst that can happen? You may find the course useful and it might just change your life for the better!

When I first became aware of torrents, I started getting all my music and software from it. But fast forward many years and I am now of the similar opinion as you in that if you want something of value then pay for it so the creator/merchant will profit from it and hopefully add to their product or even come up with something better.

I know its a huge grey area with online torrent sharing and the like, and since I am not 100% sure on where the law stands, I let my consceince be my guide and suggest you do the same.

p.s. I knew of a marketer who used to be able to generate free mailing credits for a lot of the top e-mailers on the net. Fast forward to today and he went bust for some reason or another.

I don't do Udemy courses, I just publish my eBook on safe sourcing and easy importing, but the general thrust of this thread is relevant.

I often find pirates selling my book, and if I have the time to bother, I take them down.

Mostly I don't bother, because the majority are selling obsolete editions (they will still help a lot of people to some extent, but see last sentence at the bottom here), but without proof of payment they get no support. That support for many people is worth ten to one hundred times the small price for a legitimate copy.

Not only that, they do not get the customer alerts every time a revision comes out, usually twice a year, so they don't get the latest version free of charge like the honest people do.

The world of importing is constantly changing, so what do they do? They make potentially serious mistakes that could cost them thousands, not the under $50 that the honest people pay to avoid those risks.

My question is would you want someone to do the same thing to you and your Product ?

Kinda puts it in perspective, huh ?

@Discrat - There are wso's teaching you how to do what I just showed you and if you'd note the thread is NOT about being a pirate.

In fact, Udemy has a group dedicated to course instructors, which are the folks that generally offers these coupons.

Some of the trolls on this thread are simply looking to stir stuff up.

I'm not a proponent of taking food off of anyone's table, however, I do look for legitimate smart custs (as Shane Snow calls them).

Why is everyone bashing the OP?

Show me one instance where he advocated anything along the lines of rubbing, stealing, or pirating?

The guy is simply showing people how to find legitimate coupons, easier and faster. The same coupons that product creators put out. If they didn't want to give discounts, they wouldn't put out coupons.

Lately it seems like there are a lot of people here who will try to bash anyone at any cost - even if it means putting words in somebody else's mouth - just to try to make themselves look legit and honorable.

Wow, Brent...kinda harsh don't you think? No one is robbing anyone of anything since it is the publisher of the course that is offering the 100% coupon. They often do this for several reasons, one being to get testimonials and another to pump up their numbers to make the course look in demand.

I agree, no one's robbing anyone of anything here. This is a free offer that is officially sanctioned and isn't illegal or unethical.

Udemy also runs $10 coupon offers quite regularly as well that let you pick up many courses for just $10. This is another way to pick up Udemy courses that regularly retail for $97, $197 or even more.

I have purchased a number of Udemy courses and will do so in the future.

I love the platform and the method of learning. I have gotten much out of these courses. The vast majority were worthwhile, only one or 2 were subpar.

My rule of thumb for Udemy is, I rarely pay full price. As a matter of fact, I do not think I have ever paid full porice fro a course. Most of the courses I have taken are $10 or less....I wait for a discount coupon to show up....

Here is what I have noticed: if you take several Udemy courses, you will receive private messages from your Udemy instructors or even Udemy itself. They will send you a coupon link to take the course for free or with a steep discount...

I have been offered a number of free Udemy couses (that are paid courses mind you) because I am a member of someone's circle. Also I have gotten free Udemy course coupons from being a member in other Forums as well as being on someone's email list....

I have also gotten very steep discounts from Udemy as well as the instructors who were trying to promote their course by having people take the course and hopefully write a positive review.

As a matter of fact as I write this there is a great Udemy course being offered for FREE in the War Room (Don't know how long it will be available.)

My point is: if you become a member of Udemy, you may be able to take many courses at a very deep discount...

so check out Udemy....they even have a number of courses available for free...

I don't know about "free" courses or whatever...but I'm partial to lynda.com and skillfeed.

A few of my friends have courses on there, and I personally like lynda in regards to course quality. The depth of teaching and expertise for some of the lessons is like a university course. The cost isn't too bad either.

if there is a coupon... seems to me it's meant to be used!

I remember when coupons were in newspapers and had
to be clipped out -- seems everybody wants instant
coupons and if a coupon doesn't jump in your lap,
well then it thievery to use one. I'm old school --
to find good coupons involves search.

@MightyWarrior - Old School is usually a good place to look when you're looking for a new way to put spin on and old technique.

The folks promoting these coupons, generally, are the owners of the courses themselves. They're always looking for more eyeballs and exposure to their offers anyway.

    Hope this helps.

i've never taken a udemy course but aside from searching on google and social networks for coupons..... if i was interested in a particular course, i would contact the instructor directly and ask if he has a coupon to share or if he's possibly willing to create one for a review of the course.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9933749].message }}

@anwii - Coupons are a simple way to anchor value to the higher price point.

It's the easiest strategy to employ to make people feel like they've gotten a great deal.

What Udemy instructors have going for them is the sheer volume and numbers of students that are publicly displayed for the outward public.

People looking at how much a course is and how many students there are, typically, unless they're savvy like you folks, think "oh wow...look how many folks are signed up to this thing. It must be good, I gotta get inside."

That's exactly why Udemy, Amazon, and all the big platforms put up and allow coupons, coupon codes and are constantly promoting discounts.

It's all just a magic trick.

You now what, thinking about it and what the OP says, I think I might recant what I earlier said.

There really is nothing wrong with taking advantage of coupons.

For many product creators this is essentially offering Coupons to get a new subscriber to their List.

If the Creator was against it he would NOT produce these Coupons.

      Plain and simple as that.

When Iam wrong, Iam wrong and I was wrong in what I said earlier

There are on you demon plenty of free courses. However, most are very poor. Let me tell you. Basically, we get that for which we pay. I believe some one here said sub par. Well, that is being nice. Most have a foreign narrator with a funny accent that is hard to understand, a jumble of confusing power point slide mock ups, and lots of grammar errors.

Frankly, you are much better off on you tube in terms of the quality of the courses. Also, a lot of the advice you get in you demons expensive courses is poor. Let me come right out and say it - all hat no cattle instructors who never had the gumption to teach in elementary even.

I'll 'fess up. When I read your OP the first time, I got the same idea.

There have been several post lately about how to re-use a single coupon, using multiple free coupons for PPC networks, and other frauds.

All that work for a coupon... I have better things to do with my time.

In the interest of staying on topic; Find a udemy course you are interested in. Open a browser in privacy mode, and visit that courses page again. If you don't like the discount, refresh the page. You can usually get up to 75% off with this simple trick, and you don't have to bounce around social platforms for an hour.

I'm a big believer in Karma, and truly believe that if someone has put the time and effort to put together a course/product that can help me. I should pay them for it.

If the role was reversed, many great course providers would be out of business if people found ways to get their products for free and that would starve the online community of the valuable courses they have, do and will continue to research and create.

If the product creator has chosen to place his/her course on platforms like Udemy and they are available for free with the product creators permission then that's another story
