A Little Known Trick For Writing E-mail Subject Lines That Could At Least Triple Your Open Rates...

If you want to nearly triple your open rates with e-mail like I have, you may want to "test" the dead simple method I'm about to quickly explain.

Most marketers are developing "e-mail headline blindness" ...here's what I mean.

Everybody is using headlines like "bad news" or "open seseme" or even curiosity based headlines like the one I saw in my inbox this morning..."RE: did you see this?" All of which are good headlines you should have "in rotation." However...

If your headlines look or read like everyone else's, your open rates WILL SUFFER.

So here's the "trick" and again, I can't promise it will work for you like it has for me, but it's worth testing and here it is...

USE THE EXACT HEADLINE OR A SHORT CLONE OF YOUR LANDING PAGE HEADLINE AS YOUR E-MAIL SUBJECT LINE.

This sounds so obvious, yet most don't do it.

If you have put the amount of time and effort into your headline as you should have, it should be working well for you. So in your next e-mail, give this trick a try and see if you got the *bump* in open rates that I did.

Remember, you only want to use this once in a while, you can also use variations of your headline which is what I'm testing now.

That is all for now, God bless!

    HI Derek

You are right...it does seem obvious but I can't tell you the amount of times I have deliberated for hours trying to come up with the perfect landing page headline...only to do the same again with the email subject heading. DOH! lol

    Thanks for the tip.

Yea man, One thing I've learned about this business is that the devil is in the details. I love the fact that small tweaks can make all the difference!

  • Did your sales go up, though? Surely opens & clicks are pretty much useless if they're not qualified, no?

Not saying it's a bad tip, but kinda irrelevant unless it leads to more sales. Like when people talk about getting 1 cent clicks to their fan pages, but can't show you any sales results.

Very often I find that lower opens and less clicks lead to more sales. It's all about qualifying your message to ONLY attract certain people, and deterring the peasants and time wasters who are only looking for a free ride.

Each to their own I suppose.

    Only joking.

As long as you are not misleading your viewers, more opens = more sales ...since the headline is the same on the landing page, they got what they wanted and yes, it did spike sales. Cheers!

You should also experience higher conversion rates; matching headlines to landing page headlines is a great way to enhance EPC. The industry has evolved and so has the target audience. Quite rightly, they're tired of the trickery. In essense: honestly and transparency sell.

Missing ya! That said, give people what they signed up for and you are miles ahead of others.

Always amazes me how hard 'churn n burn' email marketers work for one sale. Makes one realize quickly they onky care about your money.

    Derek,
Kudos for such a simple technique. One other thought, and I have used this, proceed each subject line with the name of your newsletter. Kind of like...

Subject: Making Videos Profitable - Writing your script

In the example, Making Videos Profitable being your newsletter and writing your script being that lesson.

Works well when you have a highly targeted list!

Peace, and blessings right back at you.
