Feedback for Free Ebook Requested

Hello Everyone,

I run a fitness and weight loss website that's finally started getting some decent traffic. Now it's time to start converting this attention into income.

Using AWeber, I've started building a mailing list by giving away an ebook I wrote that's 97 pages or so on how to eat to lose weight.

I feel like it's a lot to give away...that I could actually charge for it. Perhaps it's my own lack of confidence that anyone would pay for it that caused me to give it away.

So now I want to use another shorter e-guide I wrote when I owned my personal training company. It's much shorter at 28 pages and promotes the 97 page e-book.

I'm looking for feedback from fellow Warriors as to whether they feel this is a suitable give-away.

Sorry, but due to my newbieness, I'm unable to post a direct link, but here's the download page...

Thanks for your help.

Don't give out ebooks. Instead, give information. Few are interested in an ebook. They want the benefits of some information you have and they don't.

Write 4 articles each one giving out a "secret". At the landing page, stress the benefits people are going to get when they get the information. After opt-in and confirmation send them each article 1 day apart to build trust. Don't make the articles very long, 800 words is enough. Make sure they're quality articles.

The reality is that most people wouldn't read the free ebook anyway. Focusing on the information instead of the format you're delivering helps you convert better and gain people's interest.

Wow. I disagree with this on many levels, but suffice to say you could do some split testing. I have been building lists (literally for years now) giving away eBooks with my affiliate links in them. This is one of the basic strategies described in The E Code (2005 - Joe Vitale/Jo Han Mok) which I still use to this day.

In regards to people NOT reading your eBook it is just as big a problem with not reading your emails, and an 800 word email IMHO will largely be ignored, and those actually interested will normally just scan.

      Try this strategy instead:

Give away the eBook right off, then instead of sending out long articles via email, send out a short note of 150-200 words regarding an important (expanded) section within the eBook - that they already have downloaded. Include the page number or section to clarify what you are talking about. Basically you are adding some depth to the point or possibly clarifying a point.

I also add video links within the eBook and make sure downloaders know about it. You can also use an email to remind them of the video, and discuss it a little more.

Watch your viewership and effectiveness skyrocket.

Make sure your links within the ebook are specific to that eBook so you know where your money is coming from.

    Thanks for your feedback.

@ Tyrus Antas - That's what I'm experimenting right now. I have an ecourse that focuses on the topic of rapid fat loss.

I have seven tips that go out - one each day. Each one provides good info and also promotes an affiliate program. No sales as of yet, but have only collected about 20 sign-ups.

The sign-up rate is lower than when offering a free ebook.

@ WordPro - I know ebooks are out of date in the IM world, but it seems like many of the people I get signing up for the free ebook aren't as web savvy.

The problem is, I only collected the names before and didn't really work to convert them into buyers. My current ecourse may have fewer sign-ups but in the end convert better in terms of sales. I suppose that's why you test, right?

@ Jaideep2959 - Thanks for your reply. I agree. However, I've proven I can build a list. Now, I need to prove I can earn something from it.

  • That is actually a well written ebook.

I just started dieting and running again last week. I am starving, but I have the will power not to eat. I do think I need to get above 1200 calories.

Anyway, that book should help you sell your larger ebook.

Yes.. this is a suitable giveaway. I found it packed full of information and neatly composed. I would be thrilled to get it. In reading I actually learned a few things. Good job!
