Hey warriors,

I have a client that sells a service (turn photos into drawings). His audience is interested into turning their photo(s) into a drawing, he wants to offer them a free report in return for their email, i am advising him to use a different incentive liek a coupon or a discount, but he doesn't want to change his free offer. Am i wrong here?

Why not a coupon that gives a discount. You know - sign up to our weekly email for a 20% discount. Or a free guide to taking better photos or better drawing. Or a book on great line drawings throughout the ages.

Or just sit down and start writing whatever comes to your mind - don't worry about it being a fit - just start and see what rolls out.

Or better yet just google it like I just did -

Take your current lead magnet or the new idea that you have for one and check it against this list, and improve it.

It has to add as much value as possible. The better the offer, the more people will take it.

For free, really!? I want that! That's the reaction you want them to have when they see it. Emotional reaction is very important.
Be ready to work hard. There are no shortcuts. The more effort you put in, the better the outcome. If you want to create a killer magnet, be ready to sweat.
Do not lie or set false expectations. Nothing worse than broken promises. Fool me once, shame on me. And I won't risk being shamed twice.
Is this really the best possible idea? Look at the lead magnet idea you've got and ask yourself whether it's possible to come up with a better one? If yes, go back to 1.

This is what I would do.

Thanks for the input guys, a discount coupon might be the best thing, thanks for the idea.

Gonna implement it right now and test it against something like the photo editor as suggested.

Ha now I am going to tell my wife somebody listens to me - good thing she'll never read this

Oh yes - just occurred to me do BOTH - give the software AND the discount. Two different signup forms. No reason to have only one.You know - have the discount a slidein and the software static. No ones going to mind a discount popup/in/over.

Look at something like quicksprout they have a dozen smartly placed optins. The Every Page rule rules!

hey, that sounds like a cool service. Why not just offer them to turn one photo into a drawing for free in exchange for their email.

If your service is good, belive me they will be back for more. Even better they may tell their friends about what you are doing.

Word of mouth combined with social media can be very powerful these days.
