Easy photo uploader for wordpress (grandma friendly)

My lovely neighbour is part of a hobby group that make all kinds of stuff. They are all 50 years and up. They have a website where they display the things they've made, but they pay 5 euros per photo they want uploaded. They've spent a couple thousand euros over the past 3 years and that does not include the fee for building the site.
I want to build them a wordpress site that enables them to upload their photos themselves. I know wordpress already has this functionality, but this seems to be a bit to 'technical' for these ladies.
Is there a simpler solution for this? One that generates a gallery and allows you to add a bit of text and multiple photos? The keyword here is 'simplicity'

Thanks!

Why not just strip out the parts of the editor that they don't particularly need? On one of our multisite installs, we have a similar demographic - they really don't need to have a lot, so we hid it from view and they don't know it's there. It's fairly easy to do with some changes to functions.php (or a plugin if you are so inclined to write one).

You could also look into a front end editor like Upfront or Wordpress Front End Editor to create the appearance of an admin that is limited to only what you want them to have.

The new functionality of Word Press is totally Drag and Drop.

With some very simple steps I think you could show them how to upload a picture easily with step by step instructions.

Log in to Word Press > Look for Media>> Go to add new >> Clcik to open

    > drag picture to upload.

There are a ton of YouTube videos or you could make a simple screen shot of each step,...

You don't have to teach them all....just use one of the excellent solutions above and teach a couple of them. They can teach the other people or be the "upload experts" in the group.

So many things that used to be frightening to non-techies are now so simple a 5 yr old can do it.

Please do not 'release balloons' for celebrations. The balloons and trailing ribbons entangle birds and kill wildlife and livestock that think the balloons are food.

I was gonna suggest this myself.
If they are able to log in and know how to add a new post or, go wherever they need to go to upload the photos (meaning, teach them how to edit a page, edit a post and so on), the drag and drop function requires no skills whatsoever.

Must it be Wordpress? Because if it is only for creating online photo albums, you have a lot more options. I searched CodeCanyon.net and found a few. Just that I am not sure which is suitable for your "client"...

You can check this one for example:
PHP Scripts - Zoom Media Gallery - with CMS | CodeCanyon

DIPPEC - PHP Script for Selling Digital Products with Paypal. No more monthly SaaS fees. No more commission fees. Keep it all for yourself (except for Paypal fees).
