best way to market a single 'how to' eBook?

Hi guys

I have a 'how to' eBook to sell. Its around 50 pages, I think well written, informative, etc.

Due to its nature, there probably won't be any scope for further products. Its also something you would search for and need pretty quickly, so an email send over a few weeks may not be effective.

Does a simple old one page copy style approach work these days? What would you guys recommend?

Cheers

Just get it out there, the longer you debate about which sales copy will work best the more time you waste missing out in sales. You might find one page copy works best or an 5 email long series. At the end of the day it's important to take action and see what works. I spent 2 months fixing my ebook changing this changing that and debating on sales copies at the end of the day if I just put it out there it wouldn't make a difference in the long run. Get some sales then you can test other options

    Good luck !

I would have to agree Palmer9999 on this one. It is too easy to debate on this or that and run the risk of never getting your product to market. I can tell you that I use simple sales pages and have still seen other who do as well. Just grab yourself an effective page builder and go from there.

I currently use Profit Builder and Instabuilder each one giving me the feature I need to get the job done with my sales pages.

To sale an ebook, you just need and offer + traffic, so get your offer up there ASAP.

    Thanks

Well, I am completely in favor of Blillard. If any body who are selling anything like books, products or anything else, need a better traffic. So, I would like to suggest you, just promote your business in social media sites.

  • I'd suggest the following to start without spending a ton of cash:

Take a small section of the topic you are covering and write a small (3-5K word) report based on that topic.

Upload to Amazon and price it at $0.99.

Place a link to a sign up page for some extra content based on that topic. Now you'll be building a list of people who've already spent money with you.

Now you can upsell them the book.

Is it a complete marketing strategy? No. There's tons more you can do, but it's a free and easy way to get started.

Does anyone have any other good wordpress / site builder resources?

I am such a n00b when it comes to web design, word press, etc. I literally have no idea where to start!

Also, will these plug-ins help with SEO?

I think the most useful traffic for my idea will be google search generated. How can I ensure I am on page 1?

Well the fact that it's something that people need urgently is definately good.

So ts means you could even take a special approach and give away a few chapters of your ebook, and then hit them with a buy no button to read the rest. This works good in desperate niches, and you do'nt have to worry about sales copy and stuff like that, simply sned them to the pdf and build a buyers list at the same time.

Amazon Kindle is the best place for those type of ebooks.Don`t even bother using other platforms to get traffic and sales for an ebook.

I've read kindle is better for fiction but not non-fiction / how-to?

The price point would be $40-50 so not really ideal for kindle?

      Coolrunnings,

I think you're plowing new ground here compared to the experience of most Warriors who write and market ebooks.

I hope you have success with your book, but I've got to tell you that $50 for a 50-page book is not what most marketers here have any experience with.

You need some specialized help from someone that has been successful in what you're trying to do.

Personally, most the money made by book marketers comes from having a successful book and then leveraging that success with other books in the same series, or within the same niche. They capitalize on their customer lists and sell to folks that have already enjoyed their writing.

If you are in a one-and-done niche, I think you need some very focused assistance.

      Good luck in your project,

      Steve

Kindle is actually great for non-fiction. You certainly won't be able to get $40-50 for a 50 page book on Kindle, but it could be part of a larger strategy.

With Kindle, you could get consistent sales daily that would add up to a pretty decent income on the side.

I was out of town when this thread started. I just noticed it.

What follows may sound like the "old saw" that gets bandied about..., but it is absolutely true. If there are similar books like yours being sold currently (I don't mean being offered for sale, but actually someone is making money selling them) then go for it.

Nowadays, there is no reason at all to create a book or course that isn't going to sell. Especially with all the metrics available for all to see. Testing takes care of the maximizing of the profits possible once you get the "virtually-guaranteed-winner" written.

Selling a book for $2000 that has only ten pages will sell easily to a certain niche that gains $50K from the information. Example: THE Cure for All Cancer Using this Common Fruit- 3 Minutes per Day. Or: Riches Guaranteed!! --Where to Buy Unlimited Gold $500 under Spot!!.

I actually know of books and manuals which were similar to the above and were sold for even higher prices.

Information sells. The value of it is in the eyes of the market. If the market doesn't care about your subject, it is of little value.

  • Make videos about the book and write articles about the topic of your book to test how it converts when traffic is sent to it.

Even a simple cartoon video like the one below can send thousands of views to your sales page:

  • Setup a sales page, and use the book as a tripwire ($5 - $10)

Use this page as the thank you page, after people optin to your list
