Hai there , I recently just about to start my internet marketing business and yes I have my website set up and all I need is just to upload product and creating good content for my blog . However I got 1 question which makes me frustrated .

I saw some nice content from other people blog site for example , the most beautiful hotel room in the world . I was kinda wondering if I could just use a few pictures and some content and put it in my website as my blog post . Of course I will state there from where I took those photo and content .

Is this okay for me to do or will I violate any copyright issue ? If it will violate copyright then what you guys normally do for creating fun and interesting blog .

  • No you can't do that. Ask permission, they might let you use the images.

  • 1) Ask for permission

However, you can re-write that article, in your own word and use that..

Images, you should be fine (Ask for permission) if you write their source and link back

The given tips are great, but it really all comes down to originality. Make sure you rewrite the article, but keep it interesting for people. The better it reads, the more likely they'll return

    Cheers,

Actually every picture has no the copyright rules. Some pictures make copyright by the authority of the owner of the picture. In this case you are not allowed to use this picture. some Copyright law is: you are allowed to use for your personal use only, but you are not allowed to sell or resell them. so you need to know the copyright law then you can apply.

And clearly you're one of those people who like to give legal advice that's totally wrong.

You are wrong. Dont give legal advice on copyrights. Unless you know for a fact image you want to use is out of copyright for some reason (ie. in public domain), you should always assume it belongs to somebody who might come after you.

Thank you for all the feedback . This certainly give me some ideas about the copyright issue . I really like certain topics or blog done by some people like jokes , scenery or news etc ... . However , I worried that if I copy the image and rewrite in my own context , I might violate copyright issue . But the answers really helpful . Thank you

    Andreasleo,

Every written work and every image has a copyright attached to it unless the creator gives up that copyright.

Do not use other people's content. Do not use other people's images.

Go to one of the many stock image sites (DepositPhotos, Dreamstime, iStockPhoto, Shutterstock, Fotolia, etc) and license images for use on your site. Or use Public Domain images. But don't "borrow" other people's work for your web site or products.

People who write copy and who create images or take photos receive "automatic" copyright of their work, at least in the U.S., even without registering that work.

    You are violating copyright.

However, you can re-write that article, in your own word and use that.
This can be incorrect. Derivative works are covered by copyright.

Images, you should be fine ... if you write their source and link back
    This is incorrect.

Thank you. Only a few posts on this thread and the "advice" in many is so bad it is amazing. Be aware there are also trolls and other interesting folk who intentionally give bad advice on the forum.

You are stealing someone content for your purpose, DMCA will remoe that content if anyone complained. If you want to copy any content or image, simply ask to the blog ower to have the content else forget it.

Once again I thank you for the feedback . Well actually I do understand all the work done by other person is an effort and should be acknowledge regardless of images or content . I would agree on Steve B that to buy picts because you can provide a income for those guys who take pictures to do it .

However the things I wish to share is general stuff like D-I-Y ideas , beautiful design , funny pictures , gadgets concept etc ... So how can I buy these pictures if they are uploaded by uploaders volunteerly . I dont think they upload it for commercial purpose . So what can I do to share their content in my site .

I do not mind asking permission or buy the picts if I can because it is the right thing to do . And of course rewriting the content based on the images is a must because personally I do not like to copy and paste other person job 100% because it will be not creative and no originality of my own content . But if I have to do what Steve mention earlier , then I think I would never able to provide a fun post in my blog because everything have copyright include pictures and post which is upload volunteerly .

I seriously need more advice in this .

What do you mean by 'uploaded voluntarily'?

Everybody deals differently with their own copyrighted images. I tend to watermark mine and block hotlinking, so I dont care who takes them and where they put them up as it just brings more traffic to my original sites.

But some people go nuts if you take their images, even if they are watermarked, and will file DMCA notices, and could result in your blog being taken down.

I'd advise asking for permission and providing linkback until you learn.

Asking permission for images and rewrite the article is fine and it should be done yes I agree . This is easy and its a good courtesy to do it , not to mention give a back link to their site .

Some advice given by our forum member is indicating that I should buy the rights for the photo which I also agree if they sells their photo that I want . But what about images that what I want and nobody selling it for example imgur or cheezburger have a lot pictures , so can I just use their images freely , buy them or ask permission from them ?

This is the part I wish to clarify now .
