Hungover and Need help with Offline 150 characters. LOL

Been a rough week. Actually, a rough month. I let loose last night, but need to get it together now.

I need to scrape up some cash this week. Working on a few possible angles, but thinking it's time to bite the bullet and drop an ad in an online local directory to offer some web services.

I get 150 characters (excluding title) for $12 for the week to list in the "professional services" area.

So, debating how much to say, what to say, and should probably link to a sales page which could offer all my services?

My talents include help with SEO, web video (can do shoot, edit and upload), installing WP sites, creating AR's. Willing to talk on the phone, willing to go to their house, willing to sit down with grandma and show her how to get around on the web, etc.

Want to just toss up an ad and see if there is some response for the week.

I just taught a blogging class this past week and like an idiot I didn't take one of the students info - although I gave away a CD and card with my email on it. She wanted me to come to her house to help her improve her SEO and learn some more blogging and stuff for her business.

I can do another class but not until late summer or fall at the school. I wouldn't mind however doing the same thing one on one for locals who might be interested.

The site I'll be advertising this work on actually offers web services as well, so I need to distinguish myself from them and not tick them off.

I probably just need a swift kick in the derrier right now.

So, if you had a title and 150 characters, what direction would you go with the ad and services?

    Jill,

Did you do a video of the class? If you did, then don't be afraid to sell them... I know your a girl who takes action and congrats with the class

As far as the ad goes I would post 3 different ads, each targeting a specific talent you have (i.e. SEO; Blogging; etc...) see which ad pulls better, then run that one again ONLY and offer your other services as upsells...

Here's a hint for good ad writing in a hurry... Type your searched for term into Google, then look at the Adwords Campaigns and see if that helps. I recommend you DO NOT copy them word for word but rather take a look at the structure and you'll see what sticks out.

      Mike,

HUGE thanks to you. Your guide is what landed me that class. Not a lot of students this first go around - but the school liked the idea and I think they've been light on sign-ups all around this year. They do want me to come back.

I did shoot some video but only got about half of my 3 hours in. Tape ran out while I was in the middle of some stuff and was only able to set up one camera. My intro may have gone a bit longer than it should have as well. I had the camera facing the whiteboard where I was in the beginning. There was a projection screen on the other side of the room. It was a bit to try to shoot myself, keep track of where I was in the lesson, and discuss and interact with the students all at the same time. My focus shifted totally on them and lost track of the shooting thing. Next time I will try to pick up a highschool kid interested in video and get them to man the cameras during a class.

Yes, I see the point in doing 3 different ads. More direct, and can give different email info for each. Can also double up on Craigslist with the same ads.

Jill, you already have some live footage. Shoot what's missing in a controlled environment, then edit the two together. You could end up with a 3-DVD product very quickly.

I was planning on using some of this into the members site for a product we are working on, but I almost wish the footage was more up front and personal and done with 2 cameras and screenflow to keep it more lively. I did mic myself, but the camera is across the room.

Ok, got my hungover butt off the couch and rewinding the tape now. LOL

Anyone in Nantucket this week who would like to do a video shoot? Just finished sewing some nice curtains in my office which has Twin trundle bed you can stay in.

Oh man did my butt get big. Just saw myself turn around to write something. ROFLMBO
